Kindness is powerful medicine.
When a patient with Down syndrome was scared to wear her BiPAP mask, her nurse brought her a teddy bear with its own mask—suddenly, medicine wasn’t so scary. Every treatment went to the bear first.
When she needed a feeding tube, the ICU team then found her a tiger plush and gently placed a tiny nasogastric tube on it too.
Big hearts in small moments—thank you Dr. Specht (PGY-2) and the ICU team for reminding us what compassionate care looks like ♥️🩺
