DIY Seashell Wind Chime 🐚🌊✨
A charming coastal wind chime made from natural seashells, driftwood, and beads that creates a gentle seaside look and soothing movement in the breeze!
You’ll need:
Assorted seashells
Piece of driftwood or wooden ring
Jute twine, fishing line, or cotton string
Wooden or glass beads
Small starfish decorations (optional)
Hot glue gun
Small drill or nail
Scissors
Acrylic paint (optional)
How to make it:
Prepare the shells
Wash and dry all seashells thoroughly.
Paint some shells if you'd like a colorful beach-inspired design.
Make holes in the shells
Carefully drill or poke a small hole near the top of each shell.
(Adult supervision recommended.)
Cut the strings
Cut several pieces of string in different lengths to create a cascading effect.
Add beads and shells
Thread beads onto each string.
Add shells between the beads and secure them with knots to keep everything in place.
Decorate the strands
Attach small starfish, sea glass, or extra shells to a few strands for added ocean charm.
Prepare the top piece
Use a piece of driftwood or a wooden ring as the base of the wind chime.
Attach the strands
Tie each decorated strand securely to the driftwood or ring, spacing them evenly.
Create a hanging loop
Tie a sturdy piece of twine to the top for hanging.
Hang your wind chime
Place it on a porch, balcony, garden hook, or near a sunny window where it can gently sway in the breeze.
Tips:
Mix large and small shells for a fuller look.
Add crystal beads to create sparkling reflections in sunlight.
Use natural-colored twine for a rustic coastal style.
