Transition & Leadership Academy

Ages 15–18
Monday, Wednesday, Friday | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

The NeuroRoots Transition & Leadership Academy is designed for neurodivergent teens who are preparing for adulthood through meaningful real-world experiences, leadership opportunities, and practical life skills.

This is not an academic program.

Students are expected to receive their academic instruction through homeschooling, online learning, private school, public school, or another educational setting. The Transition & Leadership Program serves as a supplemental enrichment and life skills program focused on preparing teens for life beyond high school.

Program Focus Areas
Employment Readiness
Students develop skills needed for future employment, including:

Resume development
Job applications
Interview preparation
Workplace expectations
Professional communication
Time management
Problem-solving
Teamwork and collaboration
Independent Living Skills

Students practice real-world skills that promote independence, including:
Financial literacy
Budgeting
Meal planning
Organization
Personal responsibility
Scheduling and planning
Self-advocacy
Decision-making
Leadership Development

Students build confidence and leadership skills by:

Assisting with age-appropriate activities within the microschool
Serving as role models for younger students
Leading games, projects, and activities
Practicing communication and collaboration skills
Participating in service and leadership opportunities
Entrepreneurship & Community Skills
Students explore:
Small business concepts
Event planning

Volunteer experiences
Project-based learning opportunities
A Unique Learning Experience

During portions of the day, Transition students will have opportunities to interact with younger microschool students through structured leadership activities. These experiences provide authentic opportunities to practice communication, responsibility, patience, teamwork, and problem-solving in a supportive environment.
Students are never expected to serve as staff members or childcare providers. Rather, these interactions are intentionally designed as learning experiences that support the development of leadership and workplace readiness skills.

Ideal for Homeschool and Alternative Education Families

Many teens successfully complete academic coursework but still need opportunities to develop the practical skills necessary for adulthood. The NeuroRoots Transition & Leadership Program fills that gap by providing a structured environment where students can practice real-world skills, build confidence, and gain meaningful experiences that prepare them for life after high school.

What you don’t see behind a new microschool…

A vehicle packed to the ceiling with books, games, curriculum, art supplies, sensory tools, furniture, and big dreams.

Today was another day of unloading, organizing, building, and preparing our new NeuroRoots home in Chandler. Every item being carried through those doors has been carefully chosen with one goal in mind: creating a place where children feel safe, supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.

Starting a microschool isn’t just about opening a classroom. It’s about building a community. It’s about creating opportunities for children to learn differently, connect meaningfully, and discover their strengths.

There is still plenty to do, but seeing the vision slowly come together is incredibly exciting.

We can’t wait to welcome our first Little Explorers and Transition & Leadership Academy students this fall. The dream is becoming a reality, one carload at a time.

What if there was a place where teens could practice the skills they need for adulthood before they’re expected to live it?

Welcome to Transition & Leadership Academy—a unique program designed for teens ages 15–18 who are ready to build confidence, independence, and real-world skills in a supportive, neurodivergent-friendly environment.

This is NOT an academic program. Instead, we focus on the life skills that often aren’t taught in traditional classrooms.

Our students explore:
🌟 Leadership and self-advocacy
💼 Career exploration and workplace readiness
💰 Budgeting and financial literacy
🛒 Grocery shopping and meal planning
🤝 Communication and social skills
🏡 Independent living skills
❤️ Community involvement and volunteer opportunities
🧠 Executive functioning and problem-solving

Through hands-on experiences, small group discussions, community outings, and meaningful projects, students gain the confidence to navigate adulthood with greater independence and purpose.

Our goal isn’t just to prepare teens for their next step—it’s to empower them to believe they can take it.

Because every young adult deserves the opportunity to grow into their fullest potential. 🌱

We combine hands-on academics with social-emotional learning, creative exploration, life skills, and project-based experiences that help children grow both inside and outside the classroom.
