Dinosaur Discovery Expedition is here!

This week, our young explorers are stepping into the world of paleontology and discovering what it really means to be a fossil detective.

We’ll begin by learning about paleontologists and how these scientists use clues from the past to piece together the story of prehistoric life. Then, our explorers will put on their detective hats as they examine, sort, observe, and investigate their own dinosaur discoveries.

This isn’t just about learning dinosaur names.

It’s about asking questions, making observations, looking for evidence, solving problems, and thinking like a scientist.

Our Dinosaur Discovery Expedition is designed to make science hands-on, engaging, and memorable for young learners.

LOCAL BUSINESSES — WE WANT YOU!

NeuroRoots Education & Coaching is hosting:

🎅 BREAKFAST WITH SANTA & JOB EXPLORATION
Saturday, December 12

And we’re inviting local businesses, organizations, and professionals to be part of this special morning.

Business participation is FREE.

We’re looking for people who are willing to share what they do and introduce our neurodivergent students to the world of work.

You can:

• Share your career story
• Explain what your business does
• Set up a career exploration station
• Bring a hands-on activity or demonstration
• Answer students’ questions
• Show students what different jobs really look like
• Help students discover careers they may have never considered

And if you’re interested, this can be the beginning of something beyond December 12.

We’re also looking to connect with businesses that may be open to future:

• Workplace visits
• Job shadowing
• Work experiences
• Internships
• Mentoring
• Employment opportunities

You do not have to be hiring to participate.

Our goal is simple: give students the opportunity to meet real professionals, explore different careers, discover their strengths and interests, and begin thinking about what their future could look like.

NeuroRoots prepares and supports neurodivergent teens as they build skills for life beyond high school. We believe one of the best ways to prepare students for the future is to give them opportunities to experience the real world.

No vendor fee. No sales required. Just an opportunity to connect, share, and inspire.

🧪 Hands-On Labs is back this fall at NeuroRoots!

If your child loves to experiment, create, build, and get a little messy, this is the perfect hands-on learning experience!

Our Wednesday labs are designed for ages 8–12 and give kids the opportunity to explore science, creativity, storytelling, and real-world problem solving through engaging projects.

Here’s what we have coming up:

🎬 September — Stop Motion
September 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
Kids will create their own stop-motion videos while learning storytelling, planning, creativity, and video production.

👾 October — Monster Madness
October 21 & 28
Two seriously fun monster-themed hands-on creations!

🧪 November — Exploring Slime, Volcanoes & More!
November 4 & 18
Experiments, exploration, and plenty of hands-on science.

🌎 December — Holidays Around the World
December 2, 9 & 16
Explore celebrations and holiday traditions from around the world, including a special Christmas Cookie Decorating Event on December 16!

Today was SO much fun! 💚🌱

Our NeuroRoots crew got out into the community for a real-world career exploration experience—and we took “learning about jobs” way beyond a worksheet!

🎬 We explored the movie theater and observed the many different jobs that help a theater run—from customer service to concessions, cleaning, and behind-the-scenes operations.

🍔 We visited food-service spaces and looked at the different roles involved in preparing food, serving customers, taking orders, and keeping a business running.

🛍️ We explored retail and talked about the different jobs we see all around us in our everyday community.

👀 Most importantly, we practiced looking at the world differently.

Instead of simply asking, “What job do you want?” we asked:

“What jobs are all around you?”
“What does each person actually do?”
“What skills would you need for that job?”
“Could this be something you might enjoy?”

This is exactly what Adulting in Action™ is about.

Real experiences.
Real environments.
Real conversations.
Real opportunities to discover what comes next.

And yes…we had A LOT of fun doing it! 💚

We don’t just talk about independence at NeuroRoots. We get out there and practice it.

✨ Adulting in Action™ ✨
A NeuroRoots Real-World Independence Lab

Adulting Boot Camp is evolving into something even more hands-on and real-world focused.

Adulting in Action™ is a hands-on, neurodivergent-affirming and disability-inclusive experience for teens and young adults ages 16–25 who are building the skills, confidence, and independence needed to navigate adult life.

Because adulting isn’t learned by sitting in a classroom.

You learn it by doing it.

Over 8 weeks, participants will have opportunities to:

💰 Practice real-world money skills
🛒 Navigate grocery shopping and budgeting
🍳 Build cooking and home skills
🍽️ Practice ordering, paying, and communicating in the community
💼 Explore employment and workplace readiness
📱 Practice phone calls, appointments, and adult responsibilities
🧭 Build community navigation skills
🗣️ Strengthen self-advocacy and communication
🧠 Solve real-world problems and unexpected situations
🌎 Participate in hands-on community experiences

And perhaps most importantly, students will have the opportunity to practice these skills with support, without judgment, and in a way that respects different communication styles, sensory needs, processing speeds, and levels of independence.

Because we believe:

Independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone.

It means knowing yourself, knowing what you need, communicating your needs, using supports when necessary, making choices, and becoming more confident in navigating the world.

Next weekend, we’re swapping the classroom for Chandler Fashion Center! 🙌

The young men in Adulting Boot Camp asked for something very specific:

👉 REAL hands-on experiences.
👉 REAL workplaces.
👉 REAL opportunities to explore.

So we’re turning next week’s session into a FIRST JOB EXPLORATION OUTING! 🕵️‍♂️💼

🎯 OUR MISSION:

Explore. Investigate. Discover.

We’ll visit:

🍔 FOOD COURT
We’ll investigate food-service jobs and the skills needed to work in a busy customer-service environment.

🎬 HARKINS
We’ll explore the different jobs that happen behind the scenes at a movie theater and look at what an actual first-job opportunity could look like.

🏀 SCHEELS
We’ll explore the MANY different types of jobs inside one large business—from sales and customer service to food, attractions, and hands-on roles.

And throughout the outing, we’ll be asking:

What jobs interest me?
What am I good at?
What skills would I need?
Could I see myself working here?

Because finding your first job isn’t just about finding a job.

It’s about discovering:
