My name is Jennifer and I help softball athletes with the recruiting process. As a former D1 college outfielder and lefty slapper I had no idea where to start with the recruiting process. I spent countless hours figuring out what to say, where to send the emails, and trying to decide where I fit in the college softball world. I spent most of my senior year stressing out.

This is why I started helping girls with the recruiting process and it has been so rewarding.

The “right fit” looks different for every athlete.

It’s the place where:
✅ You can earn the degree that supports your future.
✅ You feel valued by the coaching staff.
✅ You have an opportunity to develop and compete.
✅ The team culture feels like home.
✅ You can see yourself growing as both an athlete and a person.

Success isn’t defined by the logo on your sweatshirt or the division you play in.

Success is graduating with a degree you love, making lifelong friendships, continuing to play the game you’re passionate about, and leaving college prepared for the next chapter of your life.

One of the biggest lessons I teach every athlete I work with is this:

Communication matters.

If you’ve decided a school isn’t the right fit, tell the coach.

If you’ve committed somewhere else, let them know.

If you’re still exploring your options and need more time, be honest about your timeline.

College coaches spend countless hours evaluating athletes, traveling to tournaments, watching games, answering emails, and building relationships. They deserve the same level of respect and honesty that athletes hope to receive.

College coaches are navigating one of the most unpredictable recruiting environments we’ve ever seen.

Roster limits.
The transfer portal.
Extra years of eligibility.
Constant roster movement.

Programs that fully intended to recruit high school athletes are being forced to adjust their plans almost overnight.

That doesn’t erase your daughter’s talent.
It doesn’t erase the conversations she had.
And it certainly doesn’t erase everything she’s worked for.

Many college programs are taking a more cautious approach as they adjust to recent roster and scholarship changes. That has created a challenging environment for many athletes.

Now is NOT the time to wait.

✅ Expand your school list.
✅ Be open to every level.
✅ Reach out to more coaches.
✅ Keep building relationships.
✅ Stay proactive.

The families finding success right now are the ones willing to adjust their strategy—not the ones waiting for the phone to ring.

If you’ve only been focused on a handful of schools, it may be time to widen your search. Your best opportunity could be somewhere you haven’t considered yet.

One of the biggest mistakes I see athletes make during the recruiting process is comparing their journey to someone else’s.

A teammate gets an offer.
A friend commits.
Someone posts another visit.

Suddenly, you start questioning yourself.

Here’s the truth:

Their timeline is not your timeline.

Every athlete has different goals, different strengths, different academic interests, and different schools that are the right fit.

The recruiting process isn’t a race to see who commits first. It’s about finding the place where you’ll thrive for the next four years—and beyond.

Stay focused on what you can control:
✅ Your work ethic
✅ Your communication with coaches
✅ Your grades
✅ Your development
✅ Your attitude

Keep showing up. Keep improving. Keep believing.

The right opportunity comes from consistent preparation—not from comparing yourself to everyone else.
