🌟We’d like to congratulate Jennifer Pieri, Librarian at Madison No. 1 Middle School for receiving the Shining Star Award! Mrs. Pieri is a silent leader on campus. She is always one to volunteer and help any teacher or student. Her duties on campus go above and beyond the library. Pieri is kind and helpful, oftentimes having students learn to help her in the library. Our special education students will sit beside her and help check out books to their peers with her guidance. Mrs. Pieri is an excellent resource for students and staff and is always a person who is willing to jump in to help. She is supportive to the front office in any way she can help. Her dedication to our school and students is valued and appreciated. She is truly a shining example to our entire community.

Congratulations, Mrs. Pieri! 🎉

We’d like to recognize Megan Florendo, Teacher at Madison No. 1 Middle School for receiving the You Make the Difference Award! When asked to describe her, fellow staff members shared that she is an amazing leader on campus, an expert in her content, and helps students and fellow staff members! Another staff member shared, “She supports us whenever we need help and willingly takes on challenges that sometimes others are not able to do. She cares about us as individuals and is open to try out any new ideas that the team presents and shares. She is a truly dedicated teacher who cares about her students and builds relationships with them. This is evident when you see her communicating with students in the hallway.” Mrs. Florendo is thoughtful of her students and the impact when decisions need to be made as a school. In the classroom, she is thoughtful in her approach and what she does to support her students. Mrs. Florendo has been a huge team player, always putting the needs of our students and school first, which is how we need to make decisions.

Congratulations, Megan! 🎉

🎭 Last week, advanced theater students from Madison No. 1 Middle School performed “The Clearing & The Crossroads” at The Madison Center for the Arts! The actors and crew did an amazing job! Check out photos from the show!

Madison No. 1 Middle School is the district’s performing and visual arts school for middle school students. Madison No. 1 offers advanced Visual & Performing Arts and Spanish Immersion programs for middle school. In addition to art, P.E., band, and technology classes, students have unique opportunities and choices to take a variety of theatre, dance, and music classes according to their skill level rather than their grade level. This format allows students the ability to explore their interests in new areas or continue building on their existing skills and knowledge. Madison No. 1 teachers collaborate with local high schools to ensure that advanced classes align to high school curriculum.

We are currently accepting open enrollment interest forms for the 2024-2025 school year! To schedule a tour of Madison No. 1, or any of our schools, please visit!
