Brash Body & Soul

Brash Body & Soul I help Anxious Overthinkers stop spiraling so they can start living.

Health anxiety has its own math.

And somehow, the answer is almost always the scariest possible explanation. 😂

The wild part is, you probably KNOW there are a dozen boring reasons you could feel dizzy or exhausted.

You haven't eaten.

You barely slept.

You're stressed.

You've consumed enough caffeine to hear colors.

But when health anxiety gets involved, those explanations barely make the list.

Because health anxiety doesn't weigh every possibility equally.

The scary possibility gets a megaphone.

The boring ones get asked to wait outside.

And suddenly, possible starts feeling a whole lot like probable.

That's what makes health anxiety so damn convincing.

The sensation can be real.

The fear can be real.

And the story your brain attaches to it can still be wrong.

Some of us got REALLY good at keeping the peace.
Reading the room.
Letting things go.
Not bringing it up.
Changing the subject.
Smoothing things over.
Making sure everybody else is comfortable.
And somewhere along the way, we started calling that "peace."
But there's a question worth asking:
Whose peace are you actually keeping?
Because if everyone else gets to stay comfortable while you're swallowing what you feel, avoiding what needs to be said, or making yourself smaller to prevent a reaction...
that's not exactly peace.
At least not for you.
I wrote more about this on the blog — Whose Peace Are You Keeping?
Because sometimes the person disturbing your peace isn't the one making noise.
Sometimes it's you, working overtime to make sure nobody else does.

I have been sitting on this one for a while. 👀

And do you have any idea how hard it is for me to make something I'm excited about and then NOT TELL YOU WHAT IT IS?

Apparently this is a test of personal growth.

I'm doing terribly. 😂

Anyway...

You have clues.

I have secrets.

And by this weekend, one of those things will no longer be true. ☕👀

Who's ready for step 3?

Your body can be stressed before you've even consciously called it stress.

Shoulders creeping up. Jaw clenched. Tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth. Breathing getting a little shallower.

And after a while, that tension can start to feel so normal that you stop noticing you're doing it.

That's why I like the idea of checking your "emotional posture."

Not to magically make the stress disappear.

Just to notice:

What am I holding right now that I don't need to be holding?

Drop the shoulders.
Unclench the jaw.
Take the breath.

That tiny release might be enough to realign a day you didn't even realize was starting to veer off track.

So consider this your reminder:

Check your emotional posture. 💛

You probably already know fear is holding you back.

The problem isn’t that you haven’t tried hard enough.

The problem is that fear has gotten very good at sounding reasonable.

It says:
Wait until you’re sure.
Wait until you feel ready.
Check one more time.
Think it through again.
Maybe tomorrow.

And suddenly your life is being organized around avoiding discomfort instead of choosing what actually matters to you.

That is exactly why I created the Break Up With Fear Bootcamp.
This is for the anxious overthinker who is tired of letting fear make every decision.

Inside, we’ll work on recognizing fear’s patterns, separating fear from truth, rebuilding self-trust, and taking action without waiting to feel completely certain first.

You do not have to become fearless.
You do have to stop giving fear the final vote.

The bootcamp is ready now. Details are in the link in my bio.

Reassurance can calm anxiety quickly.
But quick relief can quietly reinforce the very cycle you’re trying to escape.

You feel afraid.
You check.
You feel better.
And your nervous system learns that checking kept you safe.
That’s why the urge comes back stronger next time.

This doesn’t mean you should never seek appropriate medical care or ask for support.

It means there’s a difference between making a grounded decision and repeatedly trying to eliminate every trace of uncertainty.

That distinction matters.

I wrote more about this on the Brash blog.

Well…
Apparently I went into the Brash basement and forgot to come back out. 😂

For the last few weeks, I’ve been working behind the scenes on blog articles, a masterclass, new resources, and the bigger vision for Brash Body & Soul.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, Brash started looking suspiciously like a campus.

Because this has never just been about calming down for five minutes.
It’s about understanding what’s happening.
Learning tools that actually help.
Rebuilding self-trust.
And recovering the parts of yourself that fear has been running for far too long.

So yes, I’ve been quiet.
But I haven’t been doing nothing.
I’ve been building.

And I’m very glad to be back. 💚

Tell me: what has anxiety, fear, or overthinking been making harder for you lately?

Jane is still waiting for her guarantee to arrive.

Unfortunately...

Life doesn't ship those.

One of the biggest lies anxiety tells us is that we're looking for reassurance.

Nah...

We're usually looking for a guarantee.

A guarantee we'll make the right decision.
A guarantee this symptom means nothing.
A guarantee nothing uncomfortable is about to happen.

The problem?

Life doesn't hand those out.

And maybe that's okay.

Because peace doesn't come from having guarantees.

It comes from trusting yourself even when you don't.

I wish I could tell you my first thought after learning Costco sells caskets was:

"Huh... that's interesting."

It wasn't.

My anxious brain immediately filed it under:

"Information we will now think about for absolutely no reason." 🙃

That's kind of how anxiety works.

It takes one random fact...

one headline...

one comment...

one weird sensation...

and suddenly acts like it's personally relevant to your life.

Most people laugh and move on.

Anxiety says,

"Let's circle back to that at 2:17 a.m." 😂

The good news?

Just because your brain grabs onto a random thought doesn't mean you have to follow it down the rabbit hole.

Some thoughts deserve your attention.

Others deserve an eye roll and a, "Nice try, Jane."

Happy International Joke Day. 💛

The reason anxiety is so exhausting is because certainty is a finish line that keeps moving.

You're trying to fill a bucket with a hole in it. No answer is ever enough. No amount of reassurance every lasts.

The shift that changes everything isn't finding more certainty; it's building more self-trust.

In my new blog post, I break down why self-trust is the real antidote to the anxiety of uncertainty, and the exact steps to start rebuilding it.
