Phillipsburg climbs up the hills above the Delaware River in the far west corner of New Jersey, right across the water from Easton, Pennsylvania. 🌉 It is a true old railroad town, the kind of place built on steep streets, brick storefronts and the rhythm of trains coming and going.

At its peak Phillipsburg was a giant of the rails, with several major railroads meeting here and the whistles echoing off the river valley day and night. The downtown grew up around that work, block after block of shops, taverns and churches packed onto the hillside, all of it looking down toward the water.

The trains have mostly quieted now, but the bones of the town are still here, and the view over the Delaware at sunset is one of the prettiest in Warren County. Ride the old excursion railroad or just walk the hills and you can feel the history under your feet.
