Offering affordable studio workspace, classes and events throughout the year, BHCS aims to be the locus of the Philadelphia ceramics community west of the Schuylkill River.

what is sliding scale pricing?

sliding scale pricing allows those at different incomes to access a product or service at a price that is comfortable for them. everyone gets the same workshop experience, and no one knows who paid what.

when you sign up for a workshop, we don’t ask you for any proof of income. but we do ask you to take a look at this graphic and see where you land, and make your decision from there.

sliding scale is an exercise in community trust! we’re glad we can offer this, and thank everyone for carrying this trust forward.

we would like to welcome our new Sunday Open Studio Monitor Nina Rajagopalan ✨

Nina Rajagopalan (they/them) is a ceramic and fiber artist living in West Philadelphia. Nina has been a practicing ceramic artist for over a decade. They create figure and animal sculptures and functional wheel-thrown pottery. Nina also makes handmade clothing with a special emphasis on incorporating reclaimed fabrics. Nina’s art explores archetypal and playful motifs, and they enjoy experimenting with unusual forms, flashy colors and bold patterns. They started participating in wood firings a couple of years ago, and they are very excited to continue learning about this fascinating form of ceramic production.
