Concerts, concerts, and more concerts! 🎶✨ Congratulations to all of our Center for Gifted Young Musicians students on their spring performances.
The Baroque Players and Chamber Players Orchestras took the stage earlier this month for Singular Strings, highlighting several of our outstanding young soloists in both ensembles. The Youth Chamber Orchestra Gala was just as exciting, featuring the world premiere of Rigmarole and Other Songs by Snorri Sigfús Birgisson, written for the YCO and Aaron Picht and inspired by Icelandic folk melodies.
Across these performances, we also took time to celebrate our graduating seniors from all three CGYM ensembles. Congratulations to our seniors, and thank you to everyone for a wonderful year of music-making!
Take your artistry further in a community built to help you grow. Come and be heard at our CGYM auditions for the 2026–27 season.

The Community Music Scholars Program closed out the year with a fantastic spring concert! 🎶✨
The program featured performances by our newest youth choir collaboration with Singing City Choir, Singing City: Next Generation, as well as the Philadelphia String Project, Brass & Wind Project, Brass & Wind Workshop, and our CMSP Upper Division students.
This special concert also marked a heartfelt farewell to our CMSP Jazz instructor, Jacob Hernandez. Jacob has been part of CMSP for more than 15 years, first as a student, and later as the conductor of the CMSP Jazz Orchestra. We were proud to honor his longstanding dedication and to thank him for the lasting impact he has made on our community. 🫶
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating an incredible year. We hope to see you again next season!

Congratulations to Center for Gifted Young Musicians violinist Daniel Qi on a wonderful senior recital! 🎻✨
Daniel has been a dedicated member of the Temple Music Prep community for over a decade, studying in the violin studio of Charles Parker, Jr. He joined the CGYM Youth Chamber Orchestra in 2019 and is also featured as a soloist on Voyages, the ensemble’s newest album.
Daniel’s connection to Temple Music Prep was evident throughout the program, including a performance with his CGYM chamber ensemble, the Huxsoll Quartet. The group includes Daniel, Eyal Allen, Penelope Tang, and Darren Lee and is coached by J. Freivogel of the Jasper String Quartet, our Quartet-in-Residence. The recital also featured a special performance of Halvorsen’s Passacaglia (after Handel) alongside his sister, Helen Qi, a CGYM alumna and former student of Charles Parker, Jr.
We are incredibly proud of Daniel’s musical journey, artistry, and commitment over the years. Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your musicianship with our community for so long. We wish you all the best in what comes next! 👏

Thank you to the Puget Sound Piano Trio for a riveting chamber music masterclass! 🎶 This session marked the final masterclass of the year, and we were thrilled to close out the series with such engaging artists.
During the class, the trio worked with two ensembles from the Center for Gifted Young Musicians. The first was a piano trio featuring Noah Jordan (cello), Madeline Han (violin), and Esther Hong (piano), coached by J. Freivogel of the Jasper String Quartet. The second was a piano quintet featuring Danae Truxler (violin), Karina Morales (violin), Jacob Hong (viola), Leonardo Lucchi (cello), and Conan Yang (piano), coached by Kathryn Read.
👏 We are so proud of these ensembles and grateful they had the opportunity to learn from such accomplished musicians.
A special thank you to Allegro Music Consultants for making this experience possible and for connecting us with the Puget Sound Trio.
