We are a body positive studio that welcomes all genders, ages, ethnicities, and bodies! Whether you are an experienced burlesque performer or just looking to shimmy and shake for fun, we have a class for you! We are the proud Official Providers of Higher Ecdysiast Education for the 2017 Philadelphia Burlesque Festival!

BADDIES celebrates PBA grads who took their ideas through the act development process and came out the other side with fully realized burlesque acts. Now they’re turning up the volume and bringing that magic BACK to the stage at Franky Bradley’s!

What parts of our stories do we choose to bring to the stage as performers of color? How do we protect ourselves and have the right tools to merge performance with our identities?

For Leila Delicious , Palestinian culture and identity have been woven into her performance practice alongside sensuality, storytelling, and resistance. This August, we’re honored to welcome Leila back to the PBA Community Workshop Series for a conversation about navigating our own identities through performance.

✨ ROOTS + RHINESTONES: Weaving Cultural Identity Into Performance ✨

Created for performers of color, this workshop explores the possibilities and vulnerabilities that can come with creating work connected to our culture, heritage, race, and lived experiences.

How can we tell these stories with intention? What tools are available to us as performers? Where do we set boundaries around what we share? And how can we care for and protect ourselves throughout the creative process?

Come explore what it can look like to create from a place of agency, intention, and care.

Leila returns to PBA with Roots + Rhinestones: Weaving Cultural Identity Into Performance, an evening of conversation, reflection, and creative exploration for performers of color looking to create work rooted in their culture, heritage, race, and lived experience.

Performance has the power to entertain, educate, preserve, question, resist, and heal.

Together, you’ll explore how to bring your identity to the stage with intention while building tools to navigate the vulnerability that can come with telling deeply personal stories.

Whether you’re beginning a new act or diving deeper into an existing one, this workshop offers space to connect with community, deepen your artistic voice, and honor the stories only you can tell.

We’re incredibly excited to welcome RedBone to the Philadelphia Burlesque Academy and to Philly FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER for an unforgettable weekend of movement, artistry, and growth.

Whether you’re looking to strengthen your floorwork, expand your movement vocabulary, reconnect with your artistic voice, or receive one-on-one feedback on an act you’ve been developing, RedBone is bringing decades of experience directly to our community.

Since 2005, RedBone has traveled the world performing and teaching burlesque, earning recognition as one of the industry’s most influential artists and educators. Now, for one weekend only, Philly gets the chance to learn from her.

A movement class blending contemporary jazz, hip hop foundations, locking, tutting, and burlesque to deepen your musicality, body awareness, and performance quality.

‼️📣 BIG NEWS. ✨

Philadelphia Burlesque Academy is heading to Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia on Sunday, November 15th!

Beginning this fall, our Fall, Winter, and Spring Student Showcases will take place on the Brooklyn Bowl stage.

This is more than a venue change, it’s an exciting next step for our students and our community. Every session, our performers pour weeks of dedication, courage, and creativity into bringing new work to life. We’re thrilled they’ll now get to celebrate that work on an incredible stage.

We hope this will also help with seating capacity to make sure everyone can get a seat to watch our amazing performers with almost double the seats!

Whether you’re stepping into the spotlight for the first time or cheering from the audience, we can’t wait to welcome you to this next chapter.

Here’s to bigger stages, bigger moments, and the same heart that has always made PBA home. 💜
