📣 The D&I Speaker Series kicks off with Kaleena Sales (), designer, illustrator, author, and educator. 📣
Kaleena Sales is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design and Chair of the Department of Art and Design at Tennessee State University, an HBCU in Nashville, TN. Her research and writing center on questions of culture, identity, and belonging, with a specific focus on amplifying marginalized systems of knowledge.
Kaleena is co-author of *Extra-Bold: A Feminist, Inclusive, Anti-Racist, Non-Binary Field Guide for Graphic Designers* (2021) and editor of *Centered: People and Ideas Diversifying Design* (2023). As a doctoral candidate at North Carolina State University, her research explores Black feminist design and maximalism, providing a critical framework for expanding the boundaries of graphic design education and practice.
