Dorm Life On A Budget

Yes…our kids will do their laundry without us asking them to do it!

If I had to name one habit my son developed at college…it would be doing his laundry on time before he ran out of clothes. Did he wash his bedsheets?? Well…that’s a question I’ve stopped asking. 😂

So on day nine of our dorm essential series let’s discuss laundry hampers. Which one would you choose?

You have elevator access: get the hamper with wheels.
You only have stairs: get the backpack hamper (be mindful that it’s huge…might be too big for some kids)
Want to keep it simple: a basic collapsible one will do the job!

If you don’t have space for a nightstand then getting a bedside caddy is getting a great idea for your college dorm room.

Day 7 will make your dorm move in day so much easier!

Kids don’t use boxes and bins to pack for college these days…they use these blue bags. They are reusable (good for the planet), don’t take up space ( just fold them when not in use) and are easy to carry.

Day 5 of our Dorm Essential series!
Closet organizers are very important as dorm wardrobes/closets are small.
Don’t bring everything you own on move in day. Sort it out by usability and weather. For example you won’t need your senior prom dress to college!
If you are an in state student then don’t bring your winter jackets and coats in August. You can always go back home on one of the weekends and swap your summer clothes with winter ones.

Dorm essential Series- Day 3
Shower caddies are a must have if you have communal showers in your dorms.
Mesh and Plastic…which one do you prefer?
Mesh is easier to wash and can be hung on a hook while plastic looks more presentable and doesn’t get moldy.
