A Special Day of Faith and Unity!
Today, our St. Jerome School Student Council had the wonderful opportunity to attend a special Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia celebrated by Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez.
Approximately 1,200 students, educators, administrators, clergy, and guests from Catholic elementary schools, secondary schools, and schools of special education throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia gathered for this beautiful celebration of faith and unity.
The Mass was part of the Archdiocese's year-long Sacred Heart initiative, bringing our Catholic school communities together in devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The celebration was especially meaningful as today is the Memorial of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the saint known for her devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and for helping to spread this devotion throughout the Church.
During his homily, Archbishop Pérez shared a message that certainly resonated with the students, referring to the Sacred Heart as the original emoji of Jesus' love for us! What a wonderful way to remind our young people that Jesus' love is always present and meant to be shared!
Following Mass, our Student Council enjoyed a quick lunch and some time together across the street at Sister Cities Park!
What a meaningful experience for our student leaders to be part of such a special gathering, celebrating the faith, fellowship, and love of Christ that unite our Catholic schools!
