Introducing Mrs. Honnee!

We are beyond thrilled to celebrate Mrs. Honnee and her incredible impact on our community! A dedicated member of the Roxborough Christian School family, she leads our curriculum committee, selects high-quality learning materials for our school, and serves as our STEM Specialist Teacher for Pre-K 3 through 5th Grade.

Her journey with RCS began as a curriculum advisor and kindergarten volunteer before she officially returned to active classroom teaching with us in 2022. Beyond the classroom, she pours her heart into our school programs, bringing school plays and events to life by volunteering her time to handcraft and design amazing costumes for our students!

Here is a glimpse into Mrs. Honnee’s extraordinary background:

Extensive Academic Credentials: She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Penn State (certified in Biology) and two Master’s degrees from Temple University, one in Science Education and another in Curriculum Development.
40 Years of Excellence: Mrs. Honnee dedicated four decades to inspiring students at Merion Mercy Academy, including 30 years serving as the Science Department Chair. She also shared her expertise as an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s University for 6 years.
Award-Winning Educator: Recognized for her deep devotion to teaching, she is a past recipient of both the Montgomery County Teacher of the Year Award and the Heart of Mercy Award.
National STEM Leader: As an NSTA Ambassador for the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision contest, she has guided students to earn Honorable Mentions, Regional victories, and National championship titles.
From designing STEM experiments for Pre-K through 5th grade to tailoring costumes for school performances, Mrs. Honnee makes our school a truly special place to learn and grow. We are so blessed to have her!

🌤️ Future Meteorologists in Action! 🌧️
Our students stepped outside the classroom standard today for a hands-on Weather Station Lab! Armed with clipboards and curiosity, they are tracking local weather patterns over the next week to analyze trends and make data-driven predictions. 📊
Using our outdoor weather station instruments, students are measuring:
🌡️ Temperature
💨 Wind Speed
🧭 Wind Direction
🌧️ Rainfall

Hands-on science helps our learners connect real-world data with mathematical analysis. Stay tuned to see what our young scientists discover by the end of the week!

☁️✨The “Fantastic Cloud” Experiment!✨☁️

Our students had a fantastic time exploring condensation and cloud formation through hands-on science! 🔬🌡️

By observing what happens when temperatures change, students were able to see how temperature differences can lead to condensation and the formation of clouds bringing the science of the water cycle right into our classroom! 🌧️☁️

It was wonderful to see their curiosity, excitement, and “aha!” moments as they made observations, asked questions, and connected the experiment to real-world weather.

Science is always more meaningful when you can see it happen!💙🔬☁️

There’s nothing better than walking into a room full of happy little faces! Their smiles, laughter, curiosity, and joy make every day in our classroom so special. 🥰

Today was filled with big smiles, happy hearts, and lots of little moments worth celebrating!🌟

Those precious preschool smiles truly brighten my day! ☀️💛
