INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR NATIVE STUDENTS:

Check out the scholarship opportunity for college and graduate students below to learn more about federal policy and politics in Washington D.C. The deadline for this amazing scholarship opportunity for Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students has been extended to March 1!

The George Washington University, AT&T Center for Indigenous Politics and Policy (CIPP), is encouraging college and graduate students who are interested in public policy to apply for the Native American Political Leadership Program (NAPLP) for Summer 2018.

NAPLP is a full scholarship program for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian undergraduate and graduate students to study applied American politics at the George Washington University in Washington DC. The scholarship covers up to nine credits in tuition, on-campus housing, round-trip air travel, and a stipend for books and living expenses ($2,400 in two installments). Students also have the opportunity to obtain an internship in places such as congressional offices, national tribal organizations or federal agencies, all aimed at developing lasting connections with a cohort of Native American students from across the country.
Other relevant details are that NAPLP—as part of the Semester in Washington Politics Program—is funded by a generous gift from AT&T. And, CIPP is the George Washington University-based center whose purpose is to research, educate, and promote public awareness on issues of significance to Indigenous communities. GW’s goal is that the student participants in NAPLP return to their schools and communities with fresh perspectives, knowledge, and skills about the political process and community organizing and that they feel better prepared to give back to and take a leadership role in their communities.
