Mission: Pennsylvania School for the Deaf educates students to succeed by recognizing and developing individual strengths, building confidence, collaborating with families and communities in a nurturing, dynamic, and language-rich environment steeped in cultural awareness of Deaf, Hearing, and worldwide diversity.

As PSD proudly celebrates our 200th year, we also celebrate our 8th year as an Official Anti-Defamation League No Place for Hate school! #noplaceforhate In the Creating a Culture of Dialogue project, the students produce a picture dictionary in American Sign Language of anti-bullying words and phrases to promote the students' ability to have discussions about bullying with other students and families. No Place for Hate values are woven into all we do here at the school to give students the knowledge, skills and confidence to promote diversity, inclusion and allyship for themselves and their community. I Can, You Can, We, Can, PSD Can! ADL - Anti-Defamation League

SAVE THE DATE! Mark your calendars for our 200th Anniversary Gala. You won't want to miss PSD's grand celebration!

PSD's 200th Birthday!

Today PSD turns 200 and we all decided to celebrate and show our love of 200 wonderful years

Happy Birthday to PSD!

Come and join our celebration of 200 years of deaf education. Enjoy this video.

This is our new “normal” for meetings. But if there’s one thing we know, PSD certainly knows how to ZOOM! #psd #almostbirthday #meetings

Our elementary students are busy learning at home! #siblingtechsupportsquad #PSDpride

PSD will remain closed for the rest of the academic year.

PSD was involved with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in January, where PSD does a variety of important projects around campus. Students and staff contribute to this important day of service for the community.

PSD held our annual winter show where families came to see their children doing their best in skits. The show varies with a winter theme. We had a blast with Early Childhood Education and K-12 school wide with two different dates. Enjoy this album!

PB's Corner April 2020

Update: PSD will remain closed until further notice.

Due to the school being closed until Tuesday, April 14, the cast and crew members of The Jungle Book wouldn’t have enough time to rehearse and get props and costumes ready for the performance weekend in May. So it has been decided that the performance weekend will be postponed to Fall 2020. We will continue to work on delivering an awesome production!

Update: PSD will remain closed and will reopen on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

CEASD2020 & PSD200

With all that is going on in regards to COVID-19, we have decided it is the best and safest decision to POSTPONE the 200th Anniversary Gala until LATE FALL 2020.

We understand this is disappointing, but it is the best decision for everyone during this difficult time. Please stay tuned for more updates.

To protect our staff and students, Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (PSD) has made the decision to close the school starting Monday,
March 16 until Friday, March 27. This is our precaution due to an
increase in the number of reported cases in the area, even though we have no confirmed cases here at our school.

PSD's Plan on COVID-19

To protect our staff and students, Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (PSD) has made the decision to close the school starting Monday,
March 16 until Friday, March 27. This is our precaution due to an
increase in the number of reported cases in the area, even though we have no confirmed cases here at our school.

In light of recent school closings and other information brought forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), and others, PSD has taken proactive steps to ensure the health and well-being of our students, staff, and as well as our stakeholders in the community.

We regret to announce that the 4 E's of Raising a Deaf or Hard of Hearing Child workshop, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21st, has been canceled. It will be postponed to a later date. If you had registered for the workshop, you will be personally contacted with the rescheduled date. Please continue to follow the PSD Facebook and Instagram pages for further updates.
