ASLA has released a new standardized methodology for measuring the carbon impacts and benefits of site projects.

Landscape Architecture 2040: Guide to Site Carbon Assessment v1 provides methods for measuring embodied carbon, operational greenhouse gas emissions, and carbon storage, including the carbon stored in existing and proposed trees, plants, and soils.

The guide also sets the stage for the landscape architecture community’s first national carbon benchmarking pilot next year.

As I think about winter tasks, I am already planning how I will be growing my spring plants without a greenhouse! I am leaving the place I've worked and farmed for 12 years to focus on JUST ONE SEED and teaching people how to garden and have had incredible resources at my fingertips, and also had huge greenhouses on my own farm. Now I will have to be clever, resourceful and try new method I will also share with you!! Stay tuned. But also please feel free to share your own ideas, methods and cool projects!!

Since it's the end of the harvest season, I am reflecting on this year and ALL I can think about is how important it is for our communities to think about building community gardens where people can come together to grow food - yes, just like in the old days. The OLD DAYS are NOW friends. Without food, we have nothing. We need to know where our food comes from, is affordable and that we grow it with people who become friends. I will be posting about this a LOT. Hope you don't mind. :-) So talk to your schools, churches, community centers, firehouses, etc. Anywhere where there is at least an acre you can create gardens of EDEN!!! Fundraise, get a group together, and start the work. One step at a time and all it takes is JUST ONE SEED!
