We are so proud of the children and the hard work they do when they walk through the front door each day. Seeing them learn, build a habit of concentration, and develop self-confidence and independence really filled our hearts with joy.
As a Montessori preschool, our goal is to provide a supportive environment to nurture the childโs spirit and development; to encourage their natural desire for independence and innate sense of self-esteem; to help them learn how to observe, question, and explore ideas curiously; and to help them master the skills and knowledge they need to successfully navigate their world.

It provides the opportunity for kids to learn with purpose and attention to detail using beautiful things found in nature. This work is an engaging sensory experience with sight, touch and smell to help children distinguish between size and appearance of flowers. In addition to nurturing their appreciation for beauty, this work is important because it helps them practice their fine motor and decision-making skills.

Rough and smooth boards fall within the Montessori sensorial area. The boards allow children to explore their sense of touch and learn to feel the difference between textures.
It enhances a childโs tactile sense by differentiating rough textures; it also helps the child improve concentration, coordination, independence, and problem solving skills. The rough and smooth board is the foundation for learning sand paper characters and letters which serve as the introduction to reading and writing for children in a Montessori classroom.
How to present Rough and Smooth Boards at home?
Provide hands-on sensorial experiences with texture.

Children feel a sense of accomplishment when they see an object fade behind a coating of polish and then reappear all shinyโafter a little rubbing, of course. Polishing activities give children a chance to synthesize preliminary skills, such as making a cotton swab and using an eye dropper, into an orderly sequence that yields a satisfying result.
Polishing is so wonderful because, like many Practical Life lessons, it allows for the child to develop his or her logical sequencing. Every time the child polishes, the sequence of the activity is reinforced (first you lay out the materials, then you open the bottle, then you put just a little polish in the bowl, and so on). Polishing also allows the child an incredibly conspicuous result of their labor. The tarnish on the cotton ball and polishing cloths are good indicators of their work, as is the shininess of the polished object. This activity encourages motivation for repetition, concentration, exactness, and care of the environment.
How to present Metal Polishing at home?
- You can make your own silver polish by mixing 2 parts baking soda with 1 part salt.
- The cotton cloth should be about 3 inches square. These can be cut out from an old T-shirt.

According to Montessori Theory, the most sensitive periods occur between the ages of zero to six. Other pedagogies refer to sensitive periods as "windows of opportunity" or "developmental milestones." During their first six years of life, children go through distinct categories of sensitive periods:
The 6 Main Sensitive Periods
Language - From birth to age six, language development is most sensitive. Language sensitivity has three levels: spoken, written, and read. This ranges from 7 months to 3 years. Initially, children mimic mouth movements to make sounds, progressing to words and simple sentences. Providing a language-rich environment at home and at school will help your child develop her bank of words.
Movement-The sensitive period for movement has two phases. Child development is sensitive from birth to 2.5 years. The baby crawls, pulls up, and walks. The development of gross and fine motor skills depends on regular opportunities to move as well as intentional hand and eye coordination exercises. It's important to take your child to the park or an outdoor environment frequently to help develop fine and gross motor skills. Closely supervised stair climbing for your children is another wonderful activity to do with your child during her sensitive period for movement.
Small Objects-Children aged one to four years old have a strong interest in small objects, especially in their hands. Fine motor control and the pincer grasp will emerge from this fascination. These skills set the foundation for writing skills and much more.
Refinement of the Senses-From birth to five years old, children learn to use their senses properly. Sensory experiences such as touch, taste, sight, and smell are very important during this period. Allowing a child the opportunity to hone in on these skills is part of the cornerstone of a Montessori Education.
Order-Order peaks in the second year and lasts until around five. This unique period is an opportunity to provide a home and school structure to help children feel safe. Children crave routine and structure. During this time, kids may prefer organizing and packing over playing with their toys. In order to support the sensitive period for order, establish ground rules, a solid routine, and an organized environment at home.
Social Behavior: -Social development begins at 2.5 years old. Making friends and cooperative exploration are developed during this stage.

Some experts suggest that โthe sooner the betterโ for early childhood education. There is no silver bullet for a lifetime of personal and professional fulfillment. But research shows that high-quality early childhood education is a tremendous tool for promoting academic, occupational, and social success.
What is the purpose of Early Childhood Education?
1. Language and Literacy - Language is the cornerstone for literacy development. It develops a child's enthusiasm for books and reading by teaching them how to communicate using gestures, sounds, and words.
2. Thinking - Children are born with a desire to comprehend. Kids practice math basics like counting and sorting, as well as problem-solving skills that they will need in school.
3. Self-control: The ability to express and manage emotions appropriately is critical for academic success and overall growth. It helps kids work together, cope with frustration, and find solutions to problems.
4. Self-Confidence - Children who feel competent and confident are more willing to take on new challenges.
What does a High Quality Early Childhood Education Program look like?
-Small class sizes with low student-teacher ratios and adequate learning time
-Engaging classroom environments and teachers who are well-prepared
-Early Childhood Education Standards and Curriculum based on Scientific Research
-Academic, social-emotional, and physical progress assessments for children
-Ongoing teacher support, including coaching and mentoring
Meaningful family engagement

Have you ever been amazed by how much preschoolers are willing to help out with chores? They love being able to help out and do things that adults can do. This is a wonderful opportunity to get your kids on the right track to learning that cleanliness is extremely important. Itโs also important to teach tidiness โ put things back where you take them from. This activity helps in the child's coordination of movement, independence, concentration, and care of his or her environment.
How to present a Montessori Dusting and Wiping Shelves at home?
Dusting boxes, using the dusting brushes to dust inside the corners and around the edges of the lid.
Dusty tables or other furniture within reach of your little one can also be used for this activity.
