Today’s concert was incredible!

And special thanks to for providing us with a beautiful location for the show.
We are so proud of our Primary Circle classes!
The Aspen Grove School
The Aspen Grove School is an urban nature based and Reggio- inspired, hands-on learning community for children ages 6 weeks – 5 years.
The Aspen tree rarely stands alone. Its roots are interconnected beneath the surface, sharing nutrients through which a vital community of Aspen trees spring up, stand tall and reach toward the sun. This is the community we hope to grow. The Aspen Grove School is a hands-on learning community for children ages 6 weeks – 5 years. Our goal is to introduce children across the age range to learning th

Have you found yourself wondering, “Will my child be ready for kindergarten?” “Should they already be reading or doing math?” “Is play enough to prepare them for what comes next?” .
These are important questions - and ones many families are asking. Join us for a parent education session designed to bring clarity and confidence to this stage of your child’s development. Grounded in research from organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, this session will explore how play-based learning builds the critical foundations for kindergarten readiness—including language, problem-solving, self-regulation, and social skills.
We’ll also take a closer look at how literacy, math, and STEM learning are meaningfully woven into a play-based environment and how academic skills are not separate from play, they are embedded within it. Join our session with Deb Green (ECE leader for over 40 years, retired Executive Director of PIC - a Reggio-inspired STAR 4 and NAEYC-accredited program, and adjunct ECE professor at Arcadia University), as we unpack what “Kindergarten readiness” means and what this looks like at Philly’s public and private schools.

Mother’s Day is a special pause to think about the women who shape us, long before we fully understand what they are carrying for us behind the scenes.
The love and influence of mothers and mother figures often changes the trajectory of our lives in ways words can barely capture.
To the mothers celebrating for the very first time this year, whether with a newborn or one on the way, we are celebrating you too. For the Aspen Grove teachers who bring a mother-like touch to each child’s day, we are grateful for you.
Wishing all of our AGS mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and mother figures a Mother’s Day filled with love, rest, and reminders of how deeply valued you are.

Last week our Leadership Team traveled to Reno to attend AELL’s annual conference. We learned so much and are so grateful for our amazing teachers and staff who allowed us the opportunity to be off-site for multiple days to focus on becoming better leaders.

We celebrated Nature Week and Earth Day with lots of time outdoors, including planting sunflower seeds with the Friends of Carpenter Green Park. (See the last two photos)
We can’t wait to watch our sunflowers grow!
A glimpse into our Dilworth Park classroom today gathered from about 10 minutes spent in the classroom.
Look at all of that fine motor practice!
The friends using scissors and tape at the art table were not only building up their hand strength and coordination, they were working on social emotional skills as the debated how to effectively share the single roll of tape.
Did you see the collaboration in the wooden block center? And the self control?
More fine motor practice at the water table- using the hand mixer, filling, dumping, scooping.
Time to clean up for lunch!

You’ll discover exactly when and how to invest these minutes for maximum impact, why this simple practice builds trust faster than anything else, and how it reduces the daily friction that drains the fun from family life.
