Can you attend tomorrow night's Science Town Hall if you don't have an advanced degree or work in the sciences? Absolutely! Everyone has a vested interest in maintaining American scientific expertise and resources, including but not limited to people who:
- Are patients and/or have loved ones whose care has greatly benefitted by foundational research that is federally funded
- Value experiencing beautiful, unique landscapes with healthy habitats and wildlife populations
- Enjoy gazing at the stars and learning about our universe
- Use technology on a daily basis
- Appreciate not having to worry about whether the air they breathe or water they drink is safe; similarly, those who don't have to worry about previously lethal or life-threatening diseases that now have effective vaccines
- Know that investments in science result in benefits to society and the economy
- Have a budding scientist in their life whose curiosity needs to be nurtured, not curtailed

What's your reason for standing up for science? Please come join us and add your voice to the conversation!

🔬 Skype A Scientist connects scientists with classrooms (and more) across the globe.

🎤 Start Talking Science is a public event where researchers present posters detailing their research to a general audience.

Both groups are making the science we do in our region (and beyond) more accessible to students and the general public! We are so grateful for the work they do and their partnership for our Science Town Hall happening on May 29th from 6p-8p at the Science History Institute. All of our partner organizations will provide questions that we will ask our elected officials!

"The possibility of finding life in the universe has increased, thanks to the ocean analog from our own planet. Samples from JOIDES Resolution Expedition 390/393, which are collected from a subsurface environment where basement rock is in contact with water, will advance our scientific knowledge and may help guide the direction for future astrobiology research as we continue to search for life in Earth’s deep ocean system and on other worlds."
