REGION H! This past weekend we held our Section H1/H2 conference hosted by .rosehulman. It was a great day of engaging workshops, providing service in the community, and enjoying fellowship with brothers from the Indiana chapters. We ended with a banquet to celebrate our chapters work over the past year and the installation of our new section chairs!
Congrats to Karis Balmer for being reelected to serve as Section H2 Chair and to Eathan Faust for being elected to serve as Section H1 Chair. I’m excited to see the work you do and to serve alongside you!
As Region chair, I love the moments where we get to collaborate and strategize on ways to help our chapters! Next up, Section H4/H6 conference this weekend!

Region Chairs have been hard at work. In the last 45 days, we’ve held two monthly RC calls, spent time together in Kansas City for Operations Council work, and gathered a lot of feedback and student voice. That input is being collected, organized, and shared with the people who can actually make changes.
A theme that came through clearly: conferences are at their best when they create connection on purpose, while still leaving room for the unplanned moments that make people feel like they belong. RCs consistently heard that students are looking for time and space to build relationships with each other, not just sit through information. Two practical best practices that were identified: (1) build intentional relationship time into the schedule (not only sessions), and (2) start planning and promotion for fall earlier than feels necessary, because summer disruptions are real and predictable.
We also spent meaningful time on officer elections and transitions, because that’s where good chapters can lose their way. The best practices RCs noted were straightforward: (1) make sure members understand what they’re running for before elections happen, including expectations and responsibilities, and (2) make transitions immediate and structured right after elections so nothing gets lost, delayed, or forgotten.
One more note I want to call out: transparency. We’ve heard you. People want clearer communication, fewer surprises, and evidence that feedback isn’t disappearing into a void. The RC team is doing the unglamorous work of listening, surfacing patterns, and pushing what we learn to the right people so it can turn into real support and better outcomes. In addition to the podcast that the office posted about, you'll see other updated forms of communication coming out.
There will be, beginning in the Fall and over the next several years, listening sessions at conferences and beyond, not only to hear your voice, but also to share what the leadership is working on and listen to suggestions.
If you’re involved at any level (chapter, section, region) pick one small best practice from above and implement it this month. Small changes, applied consistently, are how chapters get more stable and how members get a better experience.
