Fox School’s Mathematics Owlympiad The official page for Temple University's Mathematics Owlympiad, Philadelphia's largest math competition for high school students.

Organized by the Fox School’s Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management Department and the Sigma Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), the annual event features three rounds of competition to test the skills of the 11th graders in attendance. High schools - any public, parochial or private high school in the greater Philadelphia area - may bring up to two teams, comprised of four students each. Students must be in their junior year of study. The annual competition exposes area high-school students to The Fox School’s nationally recognized program in actuarial science, which is housed in the Department of Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management. Fox’s Actuarial Science program, among the best and largest in the United States, trains students to evaluate risk quantitatively to solve complex business problems. For the competition, actuarial science students design the math problems - comprised of a written exam, group problem solving, and a championship lightning round. It covers topics such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Probability, Matrices and Pre-Calculus. Competition is held in mid-May.
