Participants meet the African people of other countries including England's Queen Charlotte Sophia, Alexander Dumas of France writer of many books including "The Three Musketeers," and Russia's, Alexander Pushkin, father of Russian literature. Meet early African people in American Rev. Richard Allen and Absalom Jones. Meet Harriet Tubman and join her as she journeys on the Underground Railroad to William Still. "The Wedding." The play is a musical of Spirituals, and is a story of a family who had escaped from slavery, who lived in Philadelphia, had seen good times and bad, had remembered the stories of those who suffered on the plantation and now was anticipating a wedding, but first, all of the men were going to fight in the Civil War including the fiance. It concludes with the soldiers coming home and a wedding. Run for Freedom, in a presentation called "Freedom Journey." the participants learn the codes, signs and symbols, of the Underground Railroad which concludes with a very dramatic presentation. Learn about "Internalized Racism." Attend a workshop to understand how and why Internalized Racism exist and how to combat it in our community. This workshop was presented in an all day Workshop on Mental Health in the African American community hosted by State Senator Vincent Hughes.
