There’s nothing that says Filipino American History more than modern sisig: invented by Lucia Cunanan in 1974 from pig head pork scraps she’d buy at the US Air Force Base near her home base in Angeles City.

This past weekend, footage filmed by Chef Chris Tucker (Chris Tucker (he/him) 🌱🏳️‍🌈) circulated, showing Jing “Angel” Zhao being kidnapped at LAX by 4 unidentified men in street clothes.

Remember: being seen as hostile and unwelcoming to foreigners, especially non-White foreigners, is a feature, not a bug, of the Trump administration. It’s a signal for their base that they’re getting exactly what they voted for. And each incident only further normalizes this behavior in public.

In 2026, public disappearings and state violence are the status quo in 🇺🇸. Let’s not turn away, hide, or ignore. Bear witness. Keep going.

In 1924, a young Chinese man became the first person put to ☠️ in an American gas chamber. A member of the Hop Sing Tong, he’d traveled to Arizona to carry out a hit - and wound up becoming the test subject for a new, and reviled, form of punishment.
