Student Spotlight: Rimjhim Chaudhary

I am currently a first-year student in the Nanotechnology program at Penn! I am a graduate of Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India in Engineering Physics. I have a major specialization in nanotechnology. My earlier research work include carbon materials, solar energy and thin film materials. I am enrolled in Penn for master's in nanotechnology. Besides this I am interested in reading, drawing, painting, trekking and exploring new places. After completing my masters, I plan to continue my studies and pursue a PhD in the field of nanotechnology!

Penn Masters in Nanotechnology Student Spotlight: Amar Nilkamal Thaker

I graduated in Spring 2014 with my masters degree in Nanotechnology. In my 2 year at Penn, I had a good social as well as academic life. Due to interdisciplinary nature of degree, you are allowed to take courses from many different fields like computational modeling, core sciences, specific research topics, biotechnology and business. Some courses are rigorous and subject matter is challenging but courses can be selected based on one's expectations after reviewing them on Penn Course Review. There are more than 300 clubs at Penn to get busy in your hobby. Also, being an international student I felt at home at the Indian association at Penn: Rangoli.

I am currently in my second year of PhD at Arizona State University in Chemical Engineering. My training at ASU made me realize my interest in research for how nano-materials interact with biological systems and how it can be engineered for smarter solutions. I currently work in synthesizing proteins with polypeptide tags which has affinity toward specific nanoparticles. My training in M.S.E at Penn has made it very comfortable for me to understand the material's behavior at nanoscale and now I have moved on to understand cell biology and genetics for protein engineering.
