Congratulations to our neighbors F.J. Myers Advisory Council on today’s grand unveiling of the $27M Myers Rec Center renovation. It was inspiring to see the official opening of this vital community resource in our Southwest neighborhood.

Thanks to the work and dedication of Rep. Joanna McClinton Kenyatta Johnson Capital Program Office Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and the countless other organizations and individuals who brought this project to life, our children have a brand new, state-of-the-art public space to call their own.

Thank you for bringing love, care, and access our corner of 58th Street. We can’t wait for all the fun we will have together!

Welcome to the neighborhood, Jaylen Brown! 🏀

We were delighted to see Energy Shifter begin his City of Philadelphia chapter at FJMyers just across the street from Cornerstone Christian Academy in Southwest Philadelphia.

We were especially glad to hear him speak about the importance of community, investing in young people, and making a difference in the lives of families. At Cornerstone, those same commitments have been at the heart of our work for 38 years and counting.

We can’t wait to see all that Jaylen will bring to our city, both on and off the court. 🏀

Each summer, a cohort of Cornerstone students are invited to travel beyond our city and region to experience all the joys of nature with our proud partners at YMCA Camp Tockwogh

Located on the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, Cornerstone middle school students join campers from around the region for 1- or 2-week sessions where they spend their days sailing, water-skiing, sports, horseback riding, hiking, and making new friends.

This unique and enriching student experience is thanks to our longstanding partnership with Camp Tockwogh, who generously help facilitate our nearly 20-year partnership.

“Tockwogh was founded on the premise of bringing kids out of the city to explore nature, and I think there’s something profound about being outdoors, riding a horse, shooting a bow, or sailing a boat,” explains Tockwogh Executive Director, Elizabeth Staib-King. “If I could fill the entire camp with kids from Cornerstone, I’d be happy.”

Trips to Tockwogh represent just another example of how summer at Cornerstone is an active and inspiring experience for our students.

Just like this Class of 2026, our students routinely graduate with honors and go on to the best high schools in the region. Cornerstone’s community of support that includes parents, teachers, advisors, and school staff work diligently and with love to ensure each student realizes their true potential throughout their K-8 journey.

That is why graduation is such a moment of pride for our outgoing 8th graders, not only because they are prepared for the next chapter, but because they know they put forth their best effort each and every day.

Pride does not fully capture the feeling we have for these incredible students. Their hard work, faith, and dedication are a reflection of their character and talent, and a testament to the faculty, staff, family members, and supporters who have guided and uplifted them along the way.

As they say goodbye to Cornerstone, the next step in their academic journey will take them to the best high schools in the city and region. Along with their families and loved ones, we wish them good luck, blessings, and continued success.

Because these are Cornerstone students, we know they are prepared to succeed and thrive socially and academically. We can’t wait to hear and share the awe-inspiring achievements that no doubt lie in their future.

Due to the extreme heat forecast, J-ROCK Summer Camp will be CLOSED Tomorrow, Thursday, July 2.

We are also closed Friday July 3 in observance of the July 4th holiday.

Please stay cool and stay safe, we will return to normal operation next week on Monday, 7/6.

And with that, the 2025-26 school year at Cornerstone comes to a close. 🎓

Every year as we watch our Kinderbees graduate it represents the start of their academic careers. They’ve learned to become students, and to begin turning their potential and hard work into growth and knowledge.

Cornerstone 8th graders on the other hand, head out beyond our school walls into high school. The immeasurable sense of pride that we have as we bid this amazing Class of 2026 farewell, echoes the pride no doubt felt by the many people who have supported and facilitated this milestone.

We celebrate our amazing graduates as they head into the next phase of their academic careers, along with congratulating the parents, families, teachers, mentors, Teammates, and friends who have helped shaped these amazing young men and women into the future leaders of tomorrow.

Congratulations to all 2026 graduates. Thank you for being exemplary Cornerstone students. We are here, cheering for you and keeping an eye on your success as you bring your knowledge, compassion, faith, and incredible confidence out into the world. We can't wait to see what you now make of your boundless futures.
