Today we celebrate and welcome our incoming BSW students and yesterday we welcomed our incoming MSW students!

Our faculty and staff are committed to fostering societal transformation through education that emphasizes solutions and action; research that generates evidence-based strategies to resolve problems at local, national, and global levels; and public service that shares this knowledge with a wider audience because the world won’t change itself.

: MSW Student (and 2024 BSW alumnus) Christopher Clements, published an op-ed entitled “Congressional Push Needed to Increase Patient Advocates for Veterans” in the Defense Opinion. Christopher’s op-ed brings attention to and advocates for the passage of the Veterans Patient Advocacy Act introduced by of Michigan.

Christopher is currently a Master of Social Work student, having completed his BSW at Temple in May 2024. Christopher retired from the Army, as a Sgt. 1st Class, after more than 16 years of service.

: SSW Professor Cheryl Hyde’s policy brief, “Crisis in the Social Work Labor Force,” is now available via the Temple Public Policy Lab. Her brief sheds light on the experiences of social workers and the impacts of neoliberal policy on the social service delivery system.

Dr. Hyde is a professor in the School of Social Work and the Chair of the Association for Community Organization and Social Action (ACOSA).

: MSW Student Hope Latimer, published an op-ed entitled “A call to boost mental health support for students” in the Delaware Daily State News. Hope’s op-ed brings attention to and advocates for the passage of the Student Mental Health Helpline Act.
