While federal-level climate and sustainability hiring has seen shifts and uncertainty, the broader climate economy continues to expand across other sectors.
Renewable energy, ESG and corporate sustainability, climate tech, consulting, and state-level initiatives are still actively hiring, and in many cases, accelerating demand for early-career talent.
This guide breaks down five of the most accessible entry-level climate roles right now, the steps you can take to start building your own path, and how The GREEN Program alumni are translating hands-on sustainability experience into careers across energy, policy-adjacent work, and the private sector climate space.

Our camera roll this week 📸🇮🇸🫶🏽
From glaciers to geothermal energy, this week in Iceland with our newest GREENies was one for the books.
Sustainability leaders from six universities across the U.S., Turkey, Pakistan, and the U.K. came together to explore what’s possible at the intersection of renewable energy + sustainability, right in one of the greenest countries on Earth.
They stepped outside their comfort zones, designed real-world solutions, and reconnected with the planet (and each other).
Now, they join a global alumni community turning ideas into impact. 🌎 Thanks for joining us on the adventures, GREENies! 💚
