Happy Principal’s Appreciation Day, Mama Doctor Jury Segers!!
Today, we celebrate the heartbeat of Imhotep Institute Charter High School, our PrinciPAL who leads with wisdom, strength, grace, and unconditional love. Mama Dr. Jury pours her heart, soul, and vision into every single Imhotepian Staff member and Scholar. She lifts us when we are down, pushes us when we need it, celebrates every win, and stands firmly for our scholars and families every single day. Whether she’s walking the halls with her pink desk with purpose, cheering on our scholars with all of the big things they are achieving, or making tough decisions with care and integrity, Mama Doctor Jury shows us what real leadership looks like.
Mama Doctor Jury is a nurturer, a protector, a builder of futures, and a living example of excellence and leadership done right. We thank her so much for her sacrifices, her late nights, her high standards, her hugs, her laughter, and her unwavering belief that every Imhotep scholar can and will soar.
We love you deeply, Mama Doctor J. Imhotep is better, stronger, and brighter because you lead us. Happy Principal Appreciation Day, Mama Dr. Jury! We honor you today and every day.

Last night, Imhotep was proud to open the doors of the Andre Noble Gymnasium to the community as we hosted Mayor Cherelle Parker’s Budget Town Hall.
From 6–8 PM, residents, families, and leaders came together for important conversations about our city’s future. Mayor Parker stayed an extra hour afterward, generously answering questions and engaging directly with our community.
Special shoutout to Imhotep’s C.O.Y.A.L. Student Council President Kyair Sloan, who delivered a powerful, confident introduction and represented our scholars with excellence and poise.
We are grateful for the leadership of Principal Mama Dr. Jury Segers and the entire Administration Team for opening our space, uplifting our voices, and staying deeply connected to the community we serve. Thank you also to for choosing Imhotep and showing the community what partnership is all about.

Yesterday, we proudly sent off our incredible STEM Ambassadors and staff to Ghana for a 10-day international learning experience. What took place today was more than a send-off. It was a moment of connection, culture, and community. Surrounded by families, scholars, and supporters, our Imhotep village gathered to honor a journey rooted in identity, history, and purpose.
This experience represents an opportunity for our scholars to deepen their understanding of who they are, where they come from, and how they move forward in the world. Through this journey, they will engage with global perspectives, cultural traditions, and real-world learning that extends far beyond the classroom.
As they step onto the soil of Ghana, they carry with them the pride of Imhotep, the strength of our ancestors, and the love of a community that stands firmly behind them.
This is what it looks like when education, culture, and purpose come together.
Safe travels to our scholars and staff. We look forward to all that they will learn and bring back to our school community.

Imhotep was proud to welcome the Neubauer Fellows from the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders for a cross-school visit this week.
It was an honor to open our doors and share our Imhotepian culture, our commitment to STEM education, and the intentional work we are doing to accelerate scholar learning.
More importantly, this visit created space for meaningful dialogue with equity-driven leaders who are deeply committed to improving outcomes for young people across our city. The insights, feedback, and collaboration from this experience will directly strengthen our next steps as a school community.
We’re especially grateful to our incredible Principal Mama Doctor Jury Segers, whose leadership continues to create spaces where reflection, collaboration, and excellence thrive. We also want to recognize our STEM Director, Mama Shirley Posey, for helping showcase the depth and impact of our STEM programming. We also thank the Philadelphia Academy of School Leaders for cultivating opportunities like this that bring visionary leaders together.
This is what it looks like when leadership, purpose, and community align.

Today’s Summer Internship Fair at Imhotep was a major success.
Our scholars showed up ready, connecting with organizations, exploring career pathways, and taking real steps toward their future. From meaningful conversations to hands-on opportunities, the energy in the building reflected exactly what we stand for: preparation, exposure, and excellence.
We’re grateful to all of the partners and organizations who came out to invest in our scholars and help open doors for what’s next.
This is what opportunity looks like. This is ujaama in action. Thank you to Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and the Office of Youth Engagement for making this happen today!

It’s Assistant Principal’s Week and we want to extend our love and gratitude to the one and only Baba Ira Bond!
A true pillar of Imhotep, Baba Ira embodies what it means to lead with purpose, culture, and consistency. From grounding our mornings in rhythm and umoja through our drum circle, to ensuring that African-centered pedagogy lives in every classroom, his presence sets the tone for our entire building.
He shows up for our scholars with intention every day, and he shows up for our facilitators with unwavering support, always doing whatever is necessary to help them be their best. The entire Imhotep community is grateful for his leadership. Our school is better because of him.
