Online Review Course in Medical Genetics and Genetic Counseling

We have just completed our 2017 Course updates, adding 5 new lectures to expand the Course. Welcome to our new faculty: Katherine Schneider (Pediatric Cancers), Katie Stoll (Expanded Carrier Screening and NIPT). Carrie Atzinger, Lisa Kessler and Kathy Valverde added lectures in a new section in Genetic Counseling Principles and Practices. In addition, Jill Stopfer (Cancer Updates) and Jodie Vento (New Genomics) have updated their lecture content.

Kathy Schneider, MS, CGC has joined Jill Stopfer, MS, CGC, in our updated Cancer sections, adding her expertise in Tumor Predisposition and Pediatric Genetic Oncology. Both Schneider and Stopfer are at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

Newly Updated: Biochemical and Mitochondrial Genetics Lectures

Lewis J. Waber, MD, PhD, who spent the majority of his career at UT Southwestern in Dallas, has recorded 15 mini-sections on biochemical genetics. Colleen Clarke Muraresku, MS, LCGC, senior genetic counselor at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, has updated the mitochondrial section. These lectures and materials are live and available to our registrants now.

More Updates to Enhance the Experience of our Registrants: The Pre- and Post-test questions have been updated. This will not affect recently-submitted post-tests for our registrants applying for CEUs.

The updated and reorganized Course has passed the NSGC Continuing Education Review Team process and has been approved for up to 7.502 Category 1 CEUs for first time applicants and 4.288 Category 1 CEUs for registrants who received CEUs prior to November 2014. As always, we will be happy to assist our registrants to determine credit eligibility.

Stuart Schwartz, PhD, Strategic Director of Cytogenetics at Laboratory Corporation of America and leader in the field of cytogenetics, has recorded a 2-hour lecture that has just been uploaded on the Course. The lecture covers cytogenetics, FISH and microarray analysis. Dr. Schwartz, with nearly 200 peer-reviewed articles and nearly two dozen chapters in books on related topics, has contributed an excellent, well-organized lecture for this Course.
