Pennsylvania Chinese Language Conference Highlights a New Ecosystem for Chinese Language Education

Saint Joseph’s University was honored to welcome Ambassador CHEN Li, Education Counselor YU Yougen, Consul GUI Ling, and Consul YANG Xiaoyu from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China to celebrate over 26 years of SJU China Programs.

President Cheryl McConnell, along with university leadership, hosted the delegation and showcased the Haub School of Business.

President Cheryl McConnell, in her welcome remarks, reflected on the journey of collaboration between Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) and China. She stated:
“Saint Joseph’s University has enjoyed over two decades of cooperation with China. The China Programs is one of the cornerstones of our internationalization strategy, and we remain committed to building bridges that connect young people to their futures.”

Consul General Chen Li spoke highly of the achievements of the SJU China Programs. He remarked: “SJU is a pioneers in educational exchange and cooperation with China, engaging in multi-disciplinary partnerships with Chinese institutions to cultivate high-caliber talent with a global perspective, and making active contributions to people-to-people and educational exchanges between China and the United States.”

The visit highlights SJU’s ongoing commitment to global education and cross-cultural exchange through the China Programs like the 1+1 Early Childhood Education Program and collaboration with the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

Last week, Saint Joseph's welcomed Consul General Huang Ping from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York to campus to celebrate over 25 years of collaboration between Saint Joseph's and China. The visit underscored the deep educational ties between China and the University and included an address from the Consul General, tour of the Haub School of Business and a China Program Awards Ceremony recognizing distinguished Chinese and American faculty and students for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the spirit of international education.
