The lone member of this Philly high school’s golf team just won a city championship. Meet Zoey Smith. Her family calls Zoey Smith the Allen Iverson of golf. “Zoey doesn’t like to practice; she just wants to play,” her mother, Atiya Clements-Smith, said.

Congratulations to sophomore Zoey Smith on winning the girls Public League individual golf championship today! It’s the first time SLA Beeber has ever been represented in golf and we are proud of her!

The Sphinx Senior Society is the oldest and most prestigious senior society at the University of Pennsylvania. Its purpose is to stimulate a whole-hearted and deep-rooted interest in bettering the University. The society provides a unique opportunity for its members to unite and effect positive changes during their time at the University and throughout their lives.
Membership in the society is a lifelong honor. Each year thirty of the most engaged seniors on campus are invited to join the ranks of prominent alumni, such as University Trustee Jon Huntsman, former national security adviser Richard Clarke, Chairman of the University Board of Trustees James Riepe, and Grammy-winning artist John Legend.

The district has declared a heat emergency and decided we will have a half day tomorrow, Tuesday 8/29. School will dismiss at 12:30. On Wednesday, 8/30, we will dismiss at our regular, 12:50 time.

Please make sure that you arrange for your child to be picked up or travel home at 12:30 tomorrow and at 12:50 on Wednesday. There will not be staff available to supervise students after dismissal.
