I love making ridiculously difficult guitar arrangements. Occasionally I get good at playing them! This one seems promising, but the perfectionist in me wants to record the whole song with vocals, which I know is *way* harder. So much on my plate, and this is how I spend my "free" time. "Free" because there's always more work to do. 🤣😿
You know what to do if you want to learn to do this on guitar, ukulele, banjo, and other instruments! YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.

About five years ago I discovered that I could make all of the modes of the major scale on the guitar with just one fi*****ng shape. This may seem obvious to some people, but being that I'd never seen it explained that way before, it was a revelation to me. For the last five or years I have been constantly thinking in this way when playing guitar.
The first step is to imagine a seven-string guitar tuned in all fourths. This one shape (pictured below on the first seven strings) gives you any scale degree on any finger. Then you can rotate the repeating shape around to get any finger on any scale degree on any string! ...Then all you have to do is push the top two strings up one fret to account for the tuning of a major third between the G and B strings.
I hope that others can benefit from this idea. I'll publish some text/video about it eventually. But for now, here's a visual I just made in LaTeX. The bold numbers are fingers, and the italic numbers are scale degrees of the major scale (which can be rotated for different modes).
The shape only repeats every seven strings, but I've written it here with 12 strings so that you can grab every use of it by choosing any adjacent six strings, and then moving the top two strings' fingers up one fret.
Happy healthy playing! Lessons available at https://cedarparkmusicschool.com I promise that they're either more, less, or exactly as esoteric as this. Whatever you need!
