A family found this nice nugget recipe. I have noticed that some of "my kids" have trouble chewing this texture, and this recipe claims that they are easier to chew.

With hard work and consistent follow-up, your child can make major gains in feeding skills:
Just wanted to give you a quick update on (my son). We had his check up yesterday (Friday) with his GI doctor. Both Dr. and his nutritionist were in amazement in the progress he has made in the past four months since he was last seen!! They could not believe his variety of foods, how he talked about enjoying lunch at school, the fact that he gained 2 pounds and grown a few inches, and is totally off pureed calorie boosted baby foods! He is up to 35.5 pounds and 41.5 inches. He is actually in the 11th percentile for both height and weight for his age! Never thought we would see this day as I still have vivid memories of this time two years ago we were being threatened with a feeding tube. After his next visit, we are going to cut the supplements out of his milk as long as he can maintain his weight!

Reposted from a family I have been working with since January 2012. This child was 100% G-tube dependent when I met him.
For those who have followed Tucker's feeding progress, here is an update-Tucker has been eating 100% by mouth since January and gaining weight well on a very healthy meal plan. He's using the g tube to receive the 20 doses of meds he gets each day. This weekend Jennifer King came in town to work on chewing, self-feeding, and getting Tucker to take his meds orally. He will now be eating grilled cheese sandwiches, peanut butter sandwiches, nutri grain bars, and self feeding most of his puréed foods. I don't think I've ever worked this hard in my life as we have all worked to get Tucker to eat, and of course he works harder than all of us. But every bit of it has been worth it. Tonight Chris told Tucker how proud we all are of him, and Tucker was asleep by 730. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers and also your support through this journey. I also may eventually need advice on how to get Easton to stop eating;) We now have two hungry boys on our hands lol!

This article suggests that kids do not always "grow out of it" when it comes to picky eating. Although this is an extreme case, I am aware of adults and older children with similar limited diets. Even if the root cause is genetic, exposure and therapy can help to build healthy diets.

From a family I've been working with for the past year. When I met this child in March 2011, his GI was recommending a G-tube be placed:
"So Andrew talked his pop pop into taking him out to dinner. He was actually kind of excited and ordered himself a hot dog, corn and applesauce. He was very reluctant to eat the hot dog because of how it was cooked, but after some positive reinforcement he was ok. He didn't eat a ton, but ate a fair amount on his own then some with pop
pop's help. I think it was a good experience for him especially since my dad had a huge plate of spaghetti right next to him. Six months ago he would have probably vomited just walking into a restaurant and being overwhelmed with aromas."

Had a great afternoon speaking to and getting to know the OT's, Speech Therapists and PT's at Theraplay in Horsham PA. I love working together with other disciplines. An interdisciplinary approach can accelerate learning and is a recommended treatment model for childhood feeding problems.
