Hello SSS/STEM Temple Students! Although the program is no longer at Temple, we know that each of the shining stars that came from the program have either already graduated, about to graduate or heading down the close road to graduation. We miss you dearly, and wish you all the best.
I wanted to inform those students that may not already know, that the last RCC SSS/STEM Program Director, Charnetta Butler has passed away as of last week. She was an amazing woman, mentor, friend, leader, and of course fantastic Director.

Reminder to the incoming freshmen: your college meetings and convocation are tomorrow and they are mandatory! College meetings start at 9:30 to 10:30 in various locations depending on your school or college. Convocation is in the Liacouras Center from 11am to 12:15pm. If you want to do community service, FreshServ starts at 2pm at the Bell Tower for sign-ups. If you are in the RCC LLC, please check your email for where and when to meet up.

To receive assistance, students must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a program of postsecondary education at a grantee institution. Low-income students who are first-generation college students and students with disabilities evidencing academic need are eligible to participate in SSS projects.

Education or counseling services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy and assist students in applying for admission to graduate and professional programs; and assist students enrolled in two-­year institutions and applying for admission to, and obtaining financial assistance for enrollment in four­-year programs.

The SSS projects may also provide individualized counseling for personal, career, and academic information, activities, and instruction designed to acquaint students with career options; exposure to cultural events and academic programs not usually available; mentoring programs, securing temporary housing during breaks for students who are homeless youths and students who are in foster care or are aging out of the foster care system.

All SSS projects must provide: academic tutoring, which may include instruction in reading, writing, study skills, mathematics, science, and other subjects; advice and assistance in postsecondary course selection, assist student with information on both the full range of student financial aid programs, benefits and resources for locating public and private scholarships; and assistance in completing financial aid applications.
