Created by Mural Arts Philadelphia with the support of Councilman Bobby Henon, The Tacony LAB Community Arts Center brings the neighborhood and the arts together to create a unique hub for learning, creativity, and community engagement in Lower Northeast Philadelphia. The LAB offers free art classes for adults and youth, presents arts-focused events, and develops public art through its “artist-in-residence” program. The artist-in-residence program anchors professional artists in the Tacony community by providing them with studio space at the LAB. During their residencies, the artists work with the community to develop public art in Tacony, as well as use the studio to create their own artwork. We’re calling all creepy crafters and witchy makers to sell their Halloween-inspired artwork and objects at our next First Friday event on October 2nd. Vendors are welcome to apply for FREE with the link in our story highlights! Selected vendors will be notified by Sept 30th 🎃

📢📢📢 We’ve got another craft supply giveaway coming at ya this Friday!!!!

Join us for our September First Friday event where we will be giving away FREE CRAFT SUPPLIES!! The LAB regularly receives donations from our surrounding community and sometimes we find ourselves with things we might not be able to use or don’t have room to store. This means more free stuff for our participants! Grab some supplies, enjoy some light refreshments, and maybe meet some other local crafters IRL!?

Tomorrow evening our monthly drawing club with Robert Dicks returns! Bring your sketchbook and your fave pencils or just bring yourself and use our materials!! Drawing Club is every first Tuesday of the month from 4-8 pm and is open to teens and adults of all skill levels!

Every time we’re down, Knitathon can make it right…

It’s time for Knitathon: XOXO Y2K! We’re sooo excited to bring back our annual fiber arts fundraiser, this year benefitting our very own Tacony LAB!!! Whether you lived through it or live for it, the new millennium aesthetic has made its way back into our cultural mainstream. This year’s Knitathon theme echos our collective nostalgia for a time when everything seemed shiny and new and optimism for the future was at an all time high. We hope you’re able to join us November 14th and 15th to create with each other, show off your best Y2K fashion, and help raise funds for the LAB and all of its incredible programming!!
