Community Partnership School was founded in 2006 by a partnership between Germantown Academy and Project H.O.M.E. to attend to the educational needs of children from an underserved North Central Philadelphia neighborhood characterized by high rates of poverty and low rates of graduation. Community Partnership School is now in its 16th year of providing a high-quality and affordable early childhood and elementary school alternative in Philadelphia. In 2019, we moved into our own building at the crossroads of W Glenwood and Oxford Avenue and have been growing since!

Today we would like to recognize our wonderful Family Council!🌟

Family Council is open to all CPS families, with many contributing in a variety of ways during their children’s time at CPS. Families not only volunteer their time and energy, but are the reason we are able to host so many fun events for our students and community, including Family Skate Night, Fall Festival, Field Day, and Red Carpet. It’s thanks to Takiyah Harris, our Family Life Coordinator, and these amazing individuals that we are able to provide such a rich student experience.

CPS skated the night away! Two weeks ago, students and families came out for an evening of festivities, including roller skating, arcade games and rides. We greatly cherish events like these where our community can come together and make fond memories.

Last Friday was Dads and Doughnuts day at CPS!🍩 We welcomed the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, coaches, and father figures in our students’ lives to come visit our classrooms and spend quality time together. We loved to see the smiles on our students’ faces and to celebrate the loving relationships that enrich and empower our community. Thank you to everyone who made this such a special day!🥰

It’s been almost a month since the start of school and our pre-K class has shown impressive courage, curiosity, and compassion while adjusting to life at CPS! Already, they are making friends on the playground, practicing sorting and handwriting, and learning how to describe and label their emotions. As they become more comfortable with our routines and daily activities, we look forward to the ways they will blossom as the year continues!🌷

Our Friday community meetings have resumed with the start of the school year! For those who don’t know, our entire student body comes together on Friday mornings to share a little about what they learned that week. Led by our school counselor Ms. Artz and 4th and 5th grade MCs, we also take time to highlight students who demonstrate the 3C’s and to practice gratitude and calming techniques.

Although community meetings are only one way that we connect and gather as school, they are a great way to check in with each other at the end of each week.💕

Monday was our Alumni Volunteer Day! Over 20 alumni visited to help out in the classrooms and act as role models for current students. Alumni also had a chance to bond with each other and make connections across different grades and current schools. We are overjoyed that our graduates continue to come back and remain a part of the CPS community; it wouldn’t be the same without our alumni!😊

Our tabling adventures continue! This past Saturday, we attended both Strawberry Mansion Day and the K-12 Philly School Fair, where we met and talked with community members about what CPS has to offer. We even ran into our wonderful CPS alum Najeerah, from the class of 2020!💕

We held our first Family Night of the year last night! Thank you to all of the parents, guardians, and family members who joined us to go over procedures and relevant information. We hope you enjoyed meeting with your child’s teachers and we appreciate your help with making this a great school year!💫

Family engagement is an important part of our mission and values at CPS. By promoting a strong partnership between home and school, we empower families to participate in their children’s education and to enjoy the successes they achieve together.💗
