Today we went to Smith Playground but they were closed, so we went to Mander Playground and the boys wanted to get in the sprinkler. We weren't prepared so down to the bare minimum we go, lol
I would just like to put this out there... If your kids are not around special needs kids at school and/or have never been taught that not everyone is the same; then maybe you can take 10 minutes tonight and explain this to them. Even though they may not be around these kids at school, they may see them at church, at the mall, at the grocery store, or even at the park. In recent events a child with autism was excluded from participating in a school trip, also a child with Downs Syndrome was kicked out of dance class because she couldn't keep up. I feel the need to write this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthday parties. There are kids who want to belong to a team but never have the opportunity to become selected because it is more "important" to win than include these children.
Children with special needs are not rare or strange, they only want what everyone else wants- to be accepted! Not all special needs are visible. So please teach your child to be nice to everyone. Not just the kid in the wheelchair teach them to be kind and respectful of any child. The ones who need just a little extra help with reading or math. To the kid who might need more help in speech than you. Everyone needs a friend. Teach your child to be a friend. Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to COPY and PASTE this post to their wall WITHOUT SHARING it, as I did for those special children out there. ❤💙💜
