There’s a reason color feels different here.

At Studio Incamminati, we work with a 24-color impressionistic palette. This expansive palette gives artists the tools to paint up toward light, capturing the luminosity and vibrancy that makes a painting feel truly alive.

The result? Work that sings — with the kind of chromatic richness that draws a viewer in and holds them there.

This is the Incamminati approach: rigorous, intentional, and deeply rooted in the tradition of seeing color the way the Impressionists did — as light, as feeling, as life.

Whether you’re just beginning your artistic journey or deepening a lifelong practice, our curriculum is designed to transform the way you see and paint the world around you.

Tell us — what’s one color you could never paint without?

Every artist needs a little inspiration

Thankful for our wonderful instructors and fellows who led a fantastic tour of the Philadelphia Museum of Art! Talking about the techniques and details of various artworks that inspired their work and that of our founder Nelson Shanks. We hope to do more interactive trips with our students and faculty in this and upcoming semesters.

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free” - Michelangelo

At Studio Incamminati we believe sculpting leads to an understanding of anatomy that textbooks can merely grasp at. After taking our third year ecorche class, students have stated having a more in depth understanding and knowledge of the human form that they then lend to their paintings. Building a body from clay has helped them understand the nuances of human anatomy and helps them perfect a form of figural realism.
