Just like phonics gives young readers the code to unlock words, place value gives students the code to unlock numbers. Without it, math doesn’t make sense — with it, everything clicks.
World 5 of Place Value Unlocked teaches Comparing Numbers using a hand strategy students can actually feel — not just memorize. Left hand = Less than. Right hand = Greater than.
Place value isn’t a unit to cover and move on. It’s a foundational skill that follows students into every grade and every operation. We built this app because too many K-2 students are moving forward without it locked in.
And for struggling readers — every tip is read aloud. Your child doesn’t need to read the screen to learn from it. 🎧

Most multiplication apps throw every fact at your child at once and hope something sticks. “Multiplcation Unlocked” is different! We teach facts in order that makes sense…starting with the ones your child already almost knows and building toward the harder ones with purpose.
➡️ Every world has a strategy. The 2s table is just counting by 2s.
➡️The 9s have a trick that works every time.
➡️The rhyming facts have a pattern your child will never forget.
➡️ Even the hard facts, the ones with no shortcut, are isolated into one focused world so they get the attention they deserve.
➡️This is not random drilling. It’s a sequence designed by real educators.
➡️ 90% to pass. No skipping ahead. Real mastery!
Free to start. Link in bio!

Does your child struggle with math in upper elementary or middle school? Chances are they never fully mastered their multiplication facts in 2nd - 3rd grade. It’s not an intelligence problem. It’s a foundation problem. Every advanced math concept, fractions, decimals, algebra, sits on top of multiplication. Skip that foundation and math just gets harder every year. We built “Multiplication Unlocked” to close that gap before it becomes a bigger problem. FREE TO START! Link in bio!

Use sports to teach math to your kids. While watching the Sixers dismantle the Hawks tonight, periodically ask your child to calculate the total score between both teams or the difference between both scores. Other ways you could use sports to teach math are below:
Dive into sports statistics and basic probability, as they are an essential part of most sports.
Have your child average each player’s contribution, such as scores or hits, in the game they’re watching.
Compare and contrast both teams’ final stats compared to other games from the same season. This is a great way to help your child understand how graphs are made.
Don’t be afraid to get into the scientific side of things. Sports science is very interesting, and the basic scientific concepts of sports will be much more attention-grabbing for your little athlete. Look into basic physics concepts and relate them to different scenarios that pop up during a game.
Calculate the probability of their favorite player’s scoring potential through the use of older scoring numbers.
Go old-school and build a fantasy league with your child. Older children love this! Build a fantasy team and hire different players using a budget.
You can also incorporate a wide range of math concepts, such as probability and statistics.
Units of measurement are used quite a bit in sports, from distance to timing. Next time you’re watching a football game with your child, have them determine the number of yards needed until a touchdown or something else related to the game.

Philadelphia will not use standardized testing to determine admissions to selective middle and high schools for the 2022-23 year and is seeking ideas from the public on what criteria should be prioritized.
The policy grew out of necessity — very few students this spring have taken or will take the state test due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This means there are no recent test scores to determine eligibility for the selective schools.

A child’s approach to learning — whether they pay attention, stay organized, follow rules, work independently, etc. — can shape how teachers’ perceive their academic ability. A new study suggests that these characteristics, called non-cognitive skills, influence teachers’ evaluation of students’ academic aptitude differently depending on a child’s race, ethnicity, and gender.
.... the study found that teachers rated black students lower in math skills compared to white students with identical non-cognitive abilities and test scores.
