It was an honor for several of our Choir members to be chosen to sing at today’s Mass to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The choir members, Christopher S., Casey G. and Bria B., were accompanied by Ms. Trotter, Sister Incarna, and Student Council Officers. The members of our school community were also pleased to meet Archbishop Nelson Perez after the Mass.

The 4th grade continued their bone adventure with a STEAM activity where they learned about the bones in a human hand which include: Metacarpals, Carpals, and Phalanges. They created X-rays of their own hand!
On Wednesday the students created replicas of a bats wing with rolled paper.
Did you know that a bat and a human have the EXACT same bones in their hand/wing the only thing that differs is the lengths of the bones?!

STEAM meets Spanish! 💃 Ms. Moore and Sra. Ashburn joined forces to deliver a fun-filled and educational botany lesson in the NAGS lab. 🌼🪷🪻
Our 6th grade students learned about a Mexican-American botanist named Ynés Mejia, whose field expeditions included traveling among the Amazon River to collect more than 150,000 plant samples! Interesting facts about Ynés: she didn't get started with science until age 51 and has over 50 plant species named after her such as "Acourtia Mexiae Anemia!"
Students dissected various flowers by separating and observing the various parts of the flower with a magnifying glass. They used their Art skills to create and label pictures of their flowers in Spanish and even found 2 small caterpillars inside one of the flowers. 💐 What a great way to learn and cross Science and Spanish curriculums. 👏

Today in 8th grade Entrepreneurship Class, groups of students pitched two entrepreneurial traits they were assigned and debated against other groups with other characteristics.
The traits they debated included work ethic, confidence, creativity, problem solving and many more!
The students concluded that in order to be a successful entrepreneur, one needs ALL of those traits because they all pair well with each other for overall success!
High fives to Ms. Binczewski for planning an engaging and rewarding lesson.

Monster Mash Meets Science! 🧪👹
Our 2nd-grade scientists got a little spooky with science! Last week, Mrs. Lamberti’s class read a story about the many kinds of matter. This week, they brought their learning to life by creating their very own Monster Lava Cups!
These little scientists explored the difference between solids, liquids, and gases, discovered what happens when oil and water meet (spoiler alert: they don’t mix! 😉), and watched their monster-inspired experiments bubble to life!
It was a monstrously fun way to make science come alive!

NAGS celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month 🇲🇽 🇻🇪 🇵🇷 🇨🇺 🇵🇾 🇦🇷 🇨🇱 September 15 - October 15 celebrates the impact, leadership and achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States across science, arts, politics, labor, and in the community. In Sra. Ashburn's 4th grade Spanish class, students explored the contributions of various Hispanic and Latino figures that have shaped American society. Students dressed up and presented their person, showcasing the enduring impact, leadership and achievements of these figures in the United States. Present were scientist, Luis Álvarez, singer, Gloria Estefan, Goya CEO, Robert Unanue, baseball legend, Roberto Clemente, "Wednesday" actress, Jenny Ortega, Veteran Agustín Ramos Calero, among others. The lesson ended with a mini-parade and a visit to Sra. Merryman's office. What great way for children to learn about other cultures 👏 ¡Excelente trabajo, mis estudiantes!
