Philadelphia Primary School A Great Place to Learn!

08/12/2026

We need your help! As we prepare for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the District strongly encourages every family to complete the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Economic Survey.

In previous years, families completed the Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application so students could receive free or reduced-price meals. Because New York State's Universal Free Meals program now provides free breakfast and lunch to all students, families are no longer required to complete this application for meal eligibility. We are so happy to be able to provide free, nutritious meals to each of our students to give them the fuel they need to learn.

However, meal applications have historically provided the economic data our District relies on to qualify for substantial state and federal grant funding. These funds directly support educational programs and academic support services, classroom technology and instructional resources, and vital student and school-wide services. Without this data, our District risks losing critical funding that benefits every single student.

Luckily, we can continue to collect this important economic data through the attached CEP Economic Survey. Every completed survey helps ensure the District has the most accurate data possible when applying for and receiving state and federal funding.

The quickest and easiest way to complete the survey is online through MySchoolApps.com, but we have also attached a PDF version of the survey to this communication so it can be printed and returned.

To ensure our schools receive their full share of funding, we need every family to complete the brief survey. Thank you for your prompt help in ensuring our District receives every dollar available to support our students.

Remember, every response matters, so fill out the CEP Economic Survey today!

We are thrilled to share that Philly Primary School will be receiving a brand-new playground this summer! This exciting upgrade will provide our students and community with a fun, safe, and modern place to play for years to come. As construction begins, the playground area is now closed as construction crews are already taking it down. The area will be clearly roped off for everyone's safety. We kindly ask that families and community members respect the closure until the project is complete. We will be sure to let everyone know as soon as the playground is ready to reopen. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this exciting improvement. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience, but we know the finished playground will be well worth the wait. We can't wait to share it with you!

Yesterday, Philly Primary celebrated the last day of school! We began the day by recognizing all of our summer birthdays and wishing those students a very happy birthday in advance. Shortly after, students were dismissed to families and participated in our annual bus parade, a favorite tradition that helps us close out another successful school year. The music carried throughout the parking lot. While we are excited for the adventures and opportunities that summer will bring, there is no doubt that our halls will feel a little emptier without the smiles, laughter and energy of our students each day.

We wish all of our students, families and staff a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break. Thank you for your support and partnership throughout the school year. It has been a wonderful year at Philly Primary! Please note that the Philly Primary office will be open every Wednesday during the summer. However, due to ongoing construction, office hours and access may be subject to change. Thank you, everyone, for a fantastic school year. We look forward to seeing you again in the fall!

The 2026 Philly Primary Senior Walk Through was a wonderful success! Our graduating seniors were welcomed back to the place where their educational journey began. Current students lined the hallways, cheering and applauding as the seniors made their way through the building, creating a memorable and heartfelt experience for all. The event served as a powerful reminder of how quickly time passes, showcasing the incredible transition from kindergarten students to graduating seniors. Families, including parents and grandparents, joined us for the celebration and enjoyed capturing special moments with photos throughout the event. Our glass case even held memory photos and yearbooks, making everything seem like it happened yesterday. A sincere thank you goes out to the Philly Primary staff members who helped organize and plan this meaningful tradition. Mrs. Warner started a new tradition this year of the Philly Primary time capsule with Kindergartners going through one side and seniors coming out of the other for a special video you can watch below! We are proud of our graduates and wish all of our seniors the very best as they embark on their next chapter and new life adventures. Congratulations, Class of 2026! You will always be Philly Stars!

On Monday, Philly Primary proudly held its Kindergarten Celebration Ceremony. Students dressed as cowboys and cowgirls and made a memorable entrance on their “horses” as part of the themed “Moooving Up” celebration. Families enjoyed an entertaining program that featured student dancing, special poems and a heartwarming slideshow showcasing memories from throughout the kindergarten year, set to meaningful music. Students were recognized for their accomplishments and received certificates to celebrate this important milestone. Following the ceremony, families were invited back to the classrooms to enjoy a snack and spend time together. Congratulations to our kindergarten students on a wonderful year of growth, learning and achievement. We wish you the very best as you begin your first grade journey next year!

On Thursday, Philly Primary celebrated Smile Day, highlighted by our special Third Grade Moving Up Ceremony. Students were recognized with a variety of awards for their positive behavior, hard work, and commitment to our school expectations. Following the awards ceremony, our third grade students proudly received their moving up certificates along with their signature dogs, bears, and cats. Families and students also enjoyed a heartwarming slideshow featuring photos from kindergarten through third grade. It was amazing to see how much our students have grown and changed over the years! We are so proud of all they have accomplished at Philly Primary and wish them continued success as they begin their next chapter. Good luck in fourth grade! We know you will do great things! You will always be a Philly Star!

With the rainy weather in the forecast, Philly Primary moved our annual Relay Day up to Tuesday, and we're so glad we did! The sun was shining, and our students had an amazing afternoon making memories with their classmates.

Students rotated through a variety of fun filled stations, including our always popular tug of war, water games, sprinklers, T-ball, the playground, and many more exciting activities! There were plenty of smiles, laughter, teamwork, and opportunities to celebrate the end of another wonderful school year together.

A huge thank you to our incredible staff for organizing and running each station which helped make the day such a success. It was the perfect way to kick off summer fun at Philly Primary!

A huge thank you to our 4-H students and staff for creating and donating a set of beautifully crafted co****le boards for our school community! Co****le is a fun outdoor game where players take turns tossing bean bags toward a raised board, earning points by landing bags on the board or through the hole. What makes these boards especially meaningful is that they were custom designed with Indian River pride in mind. Not only do they look fantastic, but they were also built with exceptional quality and durability, ensuring that our students and families will enjoy them for years to come during school events and outdoor activities. We are grateful for your generosity, craftsmanship and partnership. Thank you for supporting our students and helping make our school community even stronger!
