UPAAN is proud to partner with Gold House to host a FREE screening of the upcoming film Dìdi (弟弟) on August 3rd at 3pm at AMC Kips Bay. This feature directorial debut by Sean Wang won the audience award for US Dramatic films at Sundance and tells the story of late 2000s SoCal Taiwanese American teenager who learns how to skate, flirt, and love his mother.

Tickets are on a first come first serve basis at the link in the comments below, and limited to 2 per UPAAN member (Penn affiliation will be verified). In the event that our ticket quota for this screening runs out, please sign up to be notified for any additional screenings we are able to secure, as well as to be in the loop of upcoming UPAAN NYC events.

Penn's Asian American Studies Program (ASAM) is excited to announce the upcoming ASAM Fellows Spring 2024 Symposium: Existence as Resistance on Saturday, March 30th, from 10 am to 4 pm EST in ARCH 108.

Join them for a day of insightful exploration as we delve into the theme "Existence as Resistance," to illuminate the power and agency of Asian American communities amidst struggles tied to histories, land, politics, health, and culture. The symposium will showcase how the act of existing becomes a form of resistance, reaffirming strength, and resilience in shaping narratives and futures. Breakfast and lunch from local Philadelphia establishments will be provided.

Happening at 6pm tonight at the PENN Club NYC

Since celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2022, the Program in Asian American Studies (ASAM) has doubled its faculty, multiplied its course offerings, and inaugurated the first named postdoctoral fellowship in Asian American studies in the Ivy League.

Please join Penn Arts & Sciences and the University of Pennsylvania Asian Alumni Network (UPAAN) for an engaging event at the Penn Club NYC with ASAM codirectors Professor David L. Eng and Dr. Fariha Khan. Enjoy refreshments, a program update on why Asian American studies is more urgent than ever, and conversation with fellow alumni as well as ASAM leadership and faculty.

This event is co-hosted by the UPAAN, ASAM, Penn Spectrum, and the Arts & Sciences Ambassador Council.
