It's our last Blue & Gold Day! Accepted students are checking out campus one last time before decision day.

Meet senior Lucas Alven on main campus to learn about La Salle TV and then take the 1:30 type of our Communication Center & TV studio.

Special thanks to Albert "Scooter" Vertino for speaking to two Com classes yesterday about working in sports broadcasting.

After graduating from La Salle with a Communication degree, Scooter worked his way through sports media to become Senior VP Content & Managing Editor of TNT Sports U.S.

Thanks for the discussion, Scooter!

Not only did La Salle Com alum & NBC10 content producer Samantha Mabin stop by our senior media capstone class to talk about working in a TV newsroom, but she brought us gifts!

As if she wasn't a gift herself. 🥰

Thanks, Sam!

Thank you to Rasheed Ajamu & Maleka Fruean from Germantown Info Hub for visiting our media production practicum class last week to discuss their work as community journalists.

Rasheed & Maleka shared the importance of understanding the community you cover and how to bring meaningful stories to that audience.

Another great speaker (and alum!) visited the senior media/journalism capstone this week. Paul Perrello discussed his time in radio and gave advice on how to conduct effective interviews.

Thanks for visiting, Paul!

Senior Com students in the Media/Journalism capstone course are meeting great alumni working in media!

Last week, Jessica Winchell Morsa discussed her work as VP of Production & Development at Magnolia Network and gave advice on navigating the professional world.

Earlier in the semester, producer/director Matt Howley explained how he approaches docuseries work for The Workshop Content Studios and how students should approach their own short documentaries.

Thank you, Jess & Matt!

If you listen to the very end of a Flyers game on NBC Sports Philadelphia, you might hear the names of two Explorers. Kevin “Casey” Feeney, ’06 serves as the broadcast producer while Mike Mulligan, ’93 is the director. Both were Communication majors and are making us !

Many COM alums will remember Dr. Richard Goedkoop’s animated teaching. Since his retirement from La Salle’s Communication Department, Dr. Goedkoop has continued to follow his passion for teaching with his work as a Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg National Military Park. He recently published an article in the Fall issue of Gettysburg Magazine.
