"Put the Pieces" is a cathartic musical anxiety dream born of the subtle insanity of trying to "do" life perfectly -- to make the perfect decisions about the best place to live, most optimal things to do, and how best to be in the world -- in the hope that everything will be just right if only you can get all the pieces correctly in place.

Some of you with good memories, who are particularly observant, and/or who are ride or die ZZ fans may know that, yes, I did quietly create and release this video a few years back, using a demo version of this song. Here it is being re-released with the new album version of "Put the Pieces", featuring The Early (guitar and drums) , Marissa Deitz (cello), Kei Fukuda (violin), mixed/co-produced by Mark Watter and mastered by Matt Poirier .

Check out the whole thing on YouTube! Link in bio. Full album out early 2027.

Selfie of me and Lady Lib to draw your attention to my show in NYC one week from today (my first in about 14 years! ๐Ÿ˜จ) with the fantastic Port Ross Dan and Kai Barshack at ๐‘ช๐‘จ๐‘บ๐‘บ๐‘ฌ๐‘ป๐‘ป๐‘ฌ in Ridgewood, Queens.

I'll be making the trek from Philly (with cats?? Guess you'll have to come to find out) for the New York debut of my new single, "Put the Pieces", the first release from my forthcoming debut LP (and many other songs with their NY debut but that's the most noteworthy one at the moment!).

Hope to see you there. Please share with your NYC friends and give "Put the Pieces" a listen (or another listen). ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŒƒ

(Final image: very messed up but kind of cool photo I dug up of my 2012 show at sadly gone Caffe Vivaldi in NYC)

One day post-release of "Put the Pieces" (please keep listening!) and I'm reflecting on how lucky I am to have worked/played with such amazing collaborators on this song (and on the album as a whole)!

It may sound corny and I don't use this word lightly, but I feel truly for how the whole thing came together.

I had been wanting to make this record for literally about 15 years but was so confused and stuck and didn't know where to start. Multiple friends on both coasts (including Thomas Johnsen and Geoff Saba -- thank you both so much! ๐Ÿ™ ) separately encouraged me (a) to do the damn album and (b) to contact Headroom Studios and specifically Mark Watter , who turned out to be an amazing, indispensable creative co-pilot (or quite often just much needed pilot) for this whole journey.

Mark in turn finagled The Early , whom I had known and had a deep musical crush on for many years, to be "the band" for the album, which was perhaps a vague notion/hope I had had but wasn't sure how to coordinate. Truly a dream come true.

All this is to say that this album is only comin' to ya and sounding like I'd always dreamed it would sound thanks to the amazing creative efforts of this core crew and other stellar collaborators (including Kei Fukuda, violin and Marissa Deitz , cello on this one ๐Ÿ™Œ).

Can't wait for you to hear all their amazing artistry. The cool stuff going on in "Put the Pieces" is just the tip of the iceberg.

Please keep streaming, adding to your playlists, and telling all your friends about it! ๐Ÿ™ It helps trick this damn algorithm in the first couple days ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Photo: not really sure what we were laughing about ๐Ÿค” but clearly something enjoyable happened or was happening! Might have been right after the studio assistant caught the mouse in a box.
