Want to help make early literacy a priority in our community?
We’re looking for passionate volunteers to become Reading Captains!

By sharing simple tips, great books, and helpful resources with families, you’ll play a key role in equipping and empowering families to raise strong, confident young readers! 📖💪

Join us for our in-person training tomorrow, Thursday, November 6thth @ 5:30pm at Vogt Rec Center. There will also be an online option available for those who prefer to attend virtually.

Reading Captains Trainings Become a Reading Captain

Our facilitator will be part of a panel discussion tomorrow, focusing on the Reading Captains experience.

Join Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, Turn the Page STL, Ready Readers, and Read by 4th to explore the successes of the program in Philadelphia and St. Louis, as well as the initiatives it has inspired in other communities.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about a recent research study by NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, examining the program's implementation in laundromats and the significance of trusted messengers in early language and literacy development.

It’s spooky season! Join us for an afternoon trunk-or-treat and Halloween parade on Friday, October 31, from 12-3 at Frankford Pause Park.

Come celebrate our 95th birthday with our first annual Fall Festival on November 1st 11 AM-2 PM!

There will be family friendly activities including story-time, pumpkin painting, scarecrow building, face painting and more! Wear a costume and you’ll have the chance to win a prize. Refreshments will be served.

Helping children develop a love for reading goes beyond assigning books. Creating opportunities for choice, making reading a family activity, and exploring different formats like audiobooks or magazines can all make a difference.
