Hi folks, I'm working to bring Nita Little to Philadelphia, PA June 12-14, 2026 to lead a workshop called Institute for the Study of Somatic Communication.

The campaign to make this happen closes Thursday May 7th at 11:59 p.m., so get your pledges in ASAP to lock in the discounted early bird rate for yourself, and ensure this workshop happens for the community.

In order to make this workshop happen, I launched a crowd sourced fundraising campaign to collect advance tuition and amass the funds to bring her in advance. This is an all or nothing campaign so if we don't meet our goal the workshop doesn't happen and you get a refund, but I'm still hoping that it can happen.

If you don't know Nita Little is one of the last practicing members of the collective that originated Contact Improvisation (CI)! She is a living legend and an incredible teacher. This workshop is not exactly CI though much of her research and teaching stems from CI. This workshop I will be focused on somatic communication. Somatics is a first person experience of yourself, connecting body/mind. This workshop will bring that union into relations with others, which is very unique for somatic study! You can apply this training to your contact improvisation or other ensemble dancing and other relationships beyond the dance floor for better communication, healing, etc.

I'm writing with a special opportunity tomorrow, Sunday, March 22nd from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. I'm offering an Intergenerational Improvisation dance class at Cardell Dance Studio at 1713 Melon St., just around the corner from 17th and Fairmount Ave.

We will have a warm-up and then we will be exploring the current transition in nature from Winter to Spring through creative dance by ourselves and in collaboration. This is a great opportunity to send your children to dance with a friend of a different age or to be able to move and create with your child! Or, move and create in an intergenerational community!

This class is truly for ALL ages. Children 5 and under need to be accompanied by an adult, but people over 5 may come by themselves or with a buddy of a similar or different age.

I am offering Creative Dance classes for kids ages 3-13 at Cardell Dance Studio in the Fairmount neighborhood.

Our Winter session runs from Tuesday, January 17- Thursday, March 9, 2023. There will be an opportunity to continue with a Spring session shortly thereafter.
