We're happy to announce that Jenna Iorio's summer scholar's project resulted in an 8-page co-authored paper entitled "Accelerated Random Search for Black-Box Constraint Satisfaction and Optimization" that has been accepted for presentation and for publication in the peer-reviewed conference proceedings of the 2021 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (SSCI 2021).
This is an international conference that will run virtually this December:

Her project involved a significant amount of R programming, running computer experiments, and learning the basics of numerical optimization.
Jenna is a McNulty scholar who is a Math - Secondary Ed major with a minor in Computer Science!

Our recent graduate, Becky Gafencu, was hired to teach mathematics at Upper Darby High School!
We wish Becky the best in adopting into the school culture and continue our tradition of providing quality mathematics education.

Kristen Blackman (SJU Actuarial Science '19) has successfully completed the requirements for associateship in the Society of Actuaries.
After graduation, Kristen began working for CVS/Aetna in their Actuarial Leadership Development Program. Since graduating, Kristen has given presentations to our students about actuarial careers and internships with CVS/Aetna.

SJU Alum Christina Diaz ('20) will be working at the Center of Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine for the Research Institute at the Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia.
She joined their Advanced Data Applications and Platform Technologies Unit (ADAPT).
