*Long Post Alert*

Meet Gianna. My first grade student (and the student who sent me into early labor after giving me the flu😂) during the 2010-2011. One of the hardest years of my life. If you’ve read my blog (triplewonder.wordpress.com) then you know why. It definitely wasn’t because of my students. They were my saving grace this year (and of course, Chase…Carter wasn’t here yet). It was in them I found my deeper purpose. I knew this was my calling and that quitting would NEVER be an option. This was the year I promised myself that I would fight like hell to make myself, my children, and my students proud…everyone else would just be a bonus. And I’ve been working towards that ever since.

On September 23, 2021, the School Board decided (again🙄) to deny my charter application to make Shirley Chisholm Empowerment Charter School a reality next year (please visit philasd.org to read my app & their report filled with inaccuracies). While their denial puts a pause on my dream, we know who really has the final say. (Hint: not them)

I’ve made the decision (after many tears) not to reapply for the next submission (but don’t worry I’m coming back strong as hell!). This will give me the opportunity to strengthen my skills as an educator, a school leader, and most importantly an advocate for students and leaders of color.

Chase & Carter, sometimes your dreams will take detours. Adjust your route and keep pressing forward.

To my students (past and future), I haven’t given up and I promise to continue to make you proud.

To those of you who have canvassed, shared a story/post, joined a live, or stopped by an event, thanks! There will be more of that so rest up😂! In the meantime, keep advocating for our babies out here.

To the haters (Alliance 4 PHL in particular…I wish I knew your @), I’m not going ANYWHERE and I’ll continue to give you plenty to write about especially when I’ve reached my ceiling of becoming The U.S. Secretary of Education 😘

Stay tuned,
💜Ms Taylor

MoNique: Ms. Taylor, help me get out of detention please?
Me: Do your best mannequin pose for me and I’ll see what I can do!

I helped her skip detention (because really, detention??!) and Sunday she’s volunteering to help me open a school!
